Target Has a Sweet iPhone Deal

Retailer Target (NYSE:TGT) is running an in-store promotion for the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone until the end of this week, offering discounts of $50 on basic iPhone 4 and 4S models. The 16GB iPhone 4S is being sold for $149.99, while the iPhone 4 is being offered for $49.99, both with the standard two-year carrier contract.

While the Target website lists the 16GB iPhone 4S at its usual price of $199.99, two Target Mobile salespersons confirmed to CNET that the promotion was on in stores on carrier plans of both Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) and AT&T (NYSE:T). The promotion will end Saturday.

Target had also cut prices of the iPhone in March, lowering the cost of the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4S, as well as the 8GB iPhone 4, by $25.

Last week, a few Walmart (NYSE:WMT) stores had been found offering as much as $74 discounts on the iPhone, but the retailer retracted lowered prices after blaming it on a computer error.
