The STEALTHY Apple Launch Nobody Noticed
Though it didn’t warrant any stage time at Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, the new iPad Smart Case is a step up from the old Smart Cover that should get iPad users pretty excited.
Don’t Miss: Here’s Why Apple IS NOT a Hardware Company.
The only difference between the older Smart Cover and the new Smart Case is in the name — it’s a case! Unlike the old cover, hich simply covers the display, the new Smart Case adds protection for the back of the iPad, which is easily scratched. Until now, iPad users have relied on cases made by companies like Belkin and Griffin to protect the remarkably delicate metal shell.
The new Smart Case, which retails at $50, is made from polyurethane in six colors — Light Gray, Dark Gray, Blue, Green, Pink and (PRODUCT) Red — and has cut-outs for the rear camera, headphone jack, mute button, and external microphone port, though the case covers the volume rocker and power button. At no extra charge, Apple will custom engrave the back of the Smart Case, which works on both the iPad 2 and the new iPad.
Shares of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) closed lower 63 cents to finish Thursday at $571.53 per share.
