Will Foxconn Recruit Apple in Supply Wars?

Foxconn says it is not seeking strategic investment from clients to expand its own supply operations. There had been talk that Foxconn was hoping to make mutual investments with clients such as Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) in order to compete against Samsung.

Much of the talk of a supply chain battle was based on Foxconn’s recent move to invest $800 million to become the largest shareholder of Japanese company Sharp. It also agreed to buy 50 percent of the LCD panels it needs from Sharp.

However, DigiTimes reported that Foxconn was not seeking an investment from Apple beyond the money the electronics maker had put in to improve workers’ conditions in its China factories.
