LG Display (NYSE:LPL), Toshiba Mobile Display, and Sharp have already been recruited by Apple to supply the touch panels, the report adds. LG Display is said to have increased its production by 70 to 80 percent, and Toshiba is also on schedule. However, Sharp has been slow with improving its yield rate, which has give Sony a chance to enter the supply chain. Sony will start volume production of the touch panels by the end of this month.

The report adds that Sony had supplied 50,000 units of 4-inch in-cell touch panels to HTC for product development in the second half of last year.
