‘1000-lb Sisters’ cast think Tammy is the problem

Throughout the seasons of 1000-lb Sisters, Tammy and Amy Slaton have tried multiple things to help them lose weight. Tammy and Chris Combs hired a personal trainer at one point and the sisters started using a meal delivery service to help them eat healthy meals. However, when they did order weeks worth of food, Tammy ate it all in a few days.

After learning that Tammy had gained 50 lbs in just a month, Chris told the cameras that he felt like she was exerting herself to gain that much weight. At that point, he said that he felt that he had failed her as her accountability partner.

Chris isn’t the only member of Tammy’s family who feels that she has caused her own demise. In the preview for season 3, Amy says that her sister is headed for trouble.

“It’s like the Titanic slowly sinking,” she says.

Tammy admitted that she was the problem

During Tammy’s final doctor’s appointment of season 2, she learned that she had gained weight. This caused her to finally admit that she could be the problem.

“I just wasn’t doing what I needed to do. I mean, sometimes I try to eat healthier, and then other days I’m like, ‘What the heck’s the point?’” she said.

Even though Tammy gained weight, her doctor was proud of her for owning up to her issues.

“You could’ve blamed [that] you couldn’t get out of bed, you could’ve blamed that you had COVID and you could’ve blamed that you were in the hospital, and you didn’t,” he said. “And believe it or not, that’s a step forward from where you’ve been in the past. So you just made progress even though your weight went up.”

Tammy’s journey on ‘1000-lb Sisters’ Season 3

The struggle isn’t over for Tammy. After admitting her problem, she decided to take drastic measures to lose weight. In season 3 of 1000-lb Sisters, Tammy checks herself into a rehab facility to tackle her weight gain head-on. However, according to the summary for season 3, she may not stay in the facility for as long as necessary.

“With her weight spiraling, Tammy makes the game-changing decision to check herself into rehab for food addiction, but her stay there may be short-lived as she considers the best way to reach her goals. She also appears to be talking to a new love interest, which is cause for concern for her family, as relationships have hindered Tammy’s progress in the past,” the season’s synopsis reads.

“Amy is dealing with her own stress, and while her dreams came true when she became a mom to son Gage, balancing the demands of motherhood with her own weight-loss goals may prove to be impossible,” the summary continues. “Meanwhile, the sisters’ brother Chris had reached the goal Dr. Smith set for him to be eligible for bariatric surgery but after a setback following a procedure to remove a boil from his leg, he fears he has blown his chances for life-saving surgery. Facing another check-up with their doctor, Tammy and Chris must both face the music and see whether their progress qualifies them for weight-loss surgery. “
