Why did Tammy Slaton take a break from filming ‘1000-lb Sisters’?

Tammy recently uploaded a video to TikTok explaining what had been going on with her.

“Around July of this year, I kind of had a mental breakdown and I lost myself literally super bad up until the end of August,” she told fans between coughs. “And then I took a break for September, which means I stopped filming for a month, and then in October, I filmed. Anyways, we are over with the season cause it’s on-air now but I ended up in the hospital because of carbon dioxide poisoning, which led to pneumonia and I was septic so yea, there’s that. I sound like this because after I got off of life support they put a trach in, so I’m trying to get used to that. I’m doing better day by day.”

She told fans that she should be getting out of the hospital in a few days but wouldn’t be going back home.

“Going to another nursing rehab to get my strength back and lose more weight and all this stuff,” she said.

Fan reactions

Fans were sad to see Tammy going through such an awful time. Some tried to match up the timeline Tammy spoke of to what they knew about that time.

“So, around the time she had her mental break was when she was seeing BBW king and the other scammers on TikTok were selling other people’s artwork, right?” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I wonder what happened, if they really took advantage of her or did something to her and she broke? Maybe this will be a wake-up call, but COVID wasn’t, a million other things that should have been weren’t. I hope her family puts their foot down and refuses to pick her up from rehab.”

“Yeah I think you’re right, all those other scammers were popping up in her life over the summer,” another fan added. “I hope she got away from them.”

Some people were concerned about how all of these illnesses would affect Tammy’s chances of getting bariatric surgery.

“It’s astonishing that she has survived both Covid and now this,” another person wrote. “Being septic is very serious. Her stupid vaping sure didn’t help her lung situation any.”

“At this point, even if she loses the required amount of weight, I wonder if any doc will take a chance operating on her,” someone added. “She’s had too many lung issues to be a safe candidate for anesthesia, I’m guessing.”
