Glenn Close portrayed Cruella De Vil in the live-action film ‘101 Dalmatians’

Cruella De Vil is always in search of the next accessory, especially one dotted with spots. When she stumbled upon a litter of dalmatian puppies, this iconic Disney villain decided they would make the perfect winter coat. Walt Disney Studios originally introduced fans to Cruella with an animated film.

Since then, this character became a fan-favorite for her bold fashion choices and catchy theme song. Decades later, Glenn Close (of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Fatal Attraction, and Hillbilly Elegy) starred as Cruella De Vil in a live-action version of 101 Dalmatians. The actor returned for 102 Dalmatians as the same twisted villain.

“I think Cruella basically has no redeeming human characteristics. Except she does have a sense of humor, albeit wicked,” Close said during an interview with The Spokesman-Review. “She’s a great character. She’s gleeful in her evilness, and there’s something very engaging about that.”

Is the original ‘101 Dalmatians’ available for streaming on Disney+?

This film was initially released in 1996, introducing viewers to the real-life Pongo, Perdita, and their many puppies. Since then, the live-action 101 Dalmatians became available for streaming on Disney’s subscription service, as is its sequel.

The animated 101 Dalmatians, premiered by Disney in 1961, is also available on Disney+. For fans who want a physical copy of Disney’s animated classic, the 101 Dalmatians Signature Collection is available for purchase thanks to retailers like Target and Amazon. Other movies featuring Cruella De Vil are available on Disney’s streaming platform

Years after the release of the original 101 Dalmatians, Disney released another movie starring this fabulous villain, detailing how Cruella became so wicked. The Disney original prequel, titled Cruella, stars Emma Stone as the title character.

“When a chance encounter vaults Estella into the world of the young rich and famous, however, she begins to question the existence she’s built for herself in London and wonders whether she might, indeed, be destined for more after all,” an official description reads via The DisInsider.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Disney released this live-action film in theaters and on their streaming platform with “Premier Access.” As of Aug. 27, though, all Disney+ subscribers will be able to binge-watch the film without the extra fee.

The live-action 101 Dalmatians and the sequel 102 Dalmatians are currently available on Disney’s subscription service, while Cruella will be available during August 2021. To learn more about Disney+, visit their website.
