When you think of the greatest celebrity red carpet looks, it’s impossible not to include Jennifer Lopez on the list. Over the years, she’s become synonymous with fashion and fans watch pre-award shows to get a glimpse of what she will wear. Out of all of her fabulous style moments, her green Versace number that she donned at the 2000 Grammy Awards is forever a standout. Now 20 years after she introduced the world to the iconic gown, she’s now the face of the brand.

Jennifer Lopez turns heads at 2000 Grammy Awards in skin-clad Versace gown

Lopez first wore the jungle print gown when she accompanied her then-boyfriend, hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, to the 2000 Grammy Awards.

The gown was a head-turner. Lopez looked flawless in the plunge-front chiffon gown as she walked the red carpet and photographers rushed to get the best shot. “It was just one of those perfect moments,” she told Vogue in September 2019.

The gown was an unexpected selection. Her stylist, Andrea Lieberman, presented her with multiple looks but nothing stood out. When Lieberman showed Lopez the green Versace gown, Lopez knew it was the perfect choice – despite the fact that the gown had already been worn by Geri Halliwell and Donatella Versace herself.

“This is what we’re going to wear; this is it,” Lopez told her stylist. “I didn’t think it was all that risqué, to be honest.”

The gown was such a hit. Google searches for a picture of Lopez reached an all-time high that Google Images was created. She understands the role her look plays in culture. “Even if you don’t know my music and you don’t know my movies, people know about that moment and that dress,” Lopez said.

Jennifer Lopez named new face of Versace

Lopez has rocked the gown since its debut. She broke the internet when she closed the Versace show wearing the same gown just last year by strutting in the same dress. Decades later, she looked hotter than ever and proved that she’s only gotten better with time.

She recently took to Instagram to announce a new partnership with the fashion line.

“I am so excited I can finally reveal that I am the face of the #VersaceSS20 campaign,” she wrote. “Thank you to @Donatella_Versace and everyone at @Versace for your vision and collaboration.”

Lopez rocked a Versace pants suit in the same print as the dress in one of the Instagram photos of the post.

Celebrity friends including Lisa Rinna and commented showing her support. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star used three shining star emojis. Rinna has been a longtime fan of Lopez and her glamorous looks and she dressed up as Lopez by wearing a replica of the Versace gown for Halloween.
