2017 brought to light one of the biggest issues in Hollywood: just how much more power men still have over women. The celebrities at the 2018 Golden Globes have decided enough is enough — and the women were a force to be reckoned with. One woman after another delivered a powerful moment that inspired men and women alike to make a difference.

Here were some of the most inspiring moments of the night that prove the 2018 Golden Globes made for a major night for women.

1. Time’s Up movement

Hollywood has officially declared that “time’s up” for sexual misconduct. And they took to the Golden Globes to spread the message. The Time’s Up movement is “an initiative created by several hundred actresses and female agents, writers, directors, and entertainment executives to fight sexual misconduct across the country,” according to The New York Times.

Nearly every celebrity in the room was donning black evening wear and a Time’s Up pin in solidarity with the movement. It set the tone for the evening as a whole, which included several inspiring speeches that advocated for equality among men and women. This doesn’t just apply to the entertainment industry, but to everyone.
