Carey dominates the music charts, releasing songs like “Without You” and “Always Be My Baby.” In 1994, the artist released her holiday album Merry Christmas, complete with several original songs. 

One of Carey’s best-known tracks is “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” a holiday song still enjoyed by fans years later.

Carey played a role in writing the holiday hit, claiming it only took about 15 minutes to get the basic ideas down. Since its release, Carey premiered several versions of this iconic holiday song, including her “SuperFestive!” remix with Justin Bieber.

Other artists, including Ingrid Michaelson, Idina Menzel, and Michael Bublé released covers of the song. Carey even snagged several Guinness World Records for “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

According to Cosmopolitan, the three Guinness World Records held by “All I Want for Christmas Is You” are for the highest-charting holiday (Christmas/New Year) song on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 by a solo artist, the most streamed song on Spotify in 24 hours, and the most weeks in the UK singles Top 10 chart for a Christmas song.

In terms of Spotify success, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is one of Carey’s most popular tracks. As of December 2021, the song holds over a billion plays on the streaming platform. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” sits at just under 150 million plays. 

As a holiday fan-favorite, this track also “jingles” its way to the Billboard Hot 100 chart almost every December, including December 2021. In 2020, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” spent five weeks at the top of this pop music chart.

Following the success of Merry Christmas, Carey released Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special on Apple TV+, complete with new original holiday songs. For “Oh Santa,” Carey was joined by Jennifer Hudson and “Santa Tell Me” singer Ariana Grande. 

Sometimes, this artist performs at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting in New York City. In 2021, Carey is even partnered with the McDonald’s to bring holiday cheer to their menu.
