Chuck Potthast, known best for being Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Potthast’s father on 90 Day Fiancé, gives fans a life update on 90 Day Diaries. After a difficult divorce, a battle with cancer, and getting healthy, he’s finally ready to start looking for love again.

Chuck opens up about his battle with cancer

On the April 25 episode of 90 Day Diaries, Chuck revealed that his wanting to get healthier stems from one major life-changing event. “In 2016, I had got diagnosed with cancer,” he explains. “So this type of cancer, bladder cancer, can be dealt with a couple of ways. You can remove the bladder. You can do chemotherapy to save the bladder. Mine couldn’t be saved. It was past that point.”

The father of seven reveals, “So I have a ostomy bag that my urine flows into. And it’s always going to be like that for the rest of my life.”

Chuck’s daughter, Jenn Potthast, opens up about how her father’s cancer affected her. She says, “Seeing my dad go through what he went through with his cancer, it was very traumatizing.”

The 60-year-old patriarch is cancer-free and eager to see what the rest of his life has in store. He said, “But I’m at a point in my life, now that things have turned around.”

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star is looking for love

During the 90 Day Diaries episode, Chuck revealed he’s ready to start looking for love again. He’s going to get healthy and get back out in the dating scene.

He revealed, “You know, I’ve had a really rough go over the last couple of years, you know, building this business and dealing with my family, and all that I went through. I just think it’s time for me now. It’s time for me to have some enjoyment and some fun. And I’m at a point in my life I would like to have a companion.”

Jenn said, “He is way overdue to get out into the dating world, dress nice, have fun, and live his life.”

Why Chuck is nervous about dating

While Chuck is finally eager to start living life, cancer-free, according to his desires, he’s nervous about how his health issues will be received by potential dates.

He says, “So the biggest obstacle that I have to overcome from dating is like telling women, you know, my dates, about my physical situation.” He admits, “It’s going to take a special person for me to commit.”

In the episode, Chuck goes to speak to a relationship coach, Joy, to help him figure out what is stopping him from finding love. He opened up about how using an ostomy bag has made him insecure about getting intimate with someone.

When asked if he’s ready to open himself up to a relationship, he replied, “I don’t know. We’ll see. But I think Joy, is going to help me with that.”

There have been many 90 Day Fiancé stars who have opened up about wanting to date Chuck. Laura Jallali from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 1 revealed that she’d be interested in dating the Potthast patriarch.

Perhaps 90 Day Fiancé fans will see him on the upcoming 90 Day: The Single Life Season 4. Either way, fans are happy to see Chuck live his life according to his rules — healthy, happy, and thriving.
