’90 Day Fiancé’ Before the 90 Days’ Star Caleb Greenwood Addresses Reunion Absence via Instagram
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 5 recently wrapped up, and part one of the tell-all aired on Apr. 3, 2022. Not everyone from the season appeared in person, but several tuned in via video. However, there was one couple nowhere to be found at all. Alina Kozhevnikova and Caleb Greenwood weren’t present at the season 5 reunion after TLC fired Alina mid-season for racially insensitive comments. Now, Caleb has addressed his absence.
Fans last saw Caleb and Alina in January on ‘Before the 90 Days’ Season 5
You’re not wrong if you feel like it’s been ages since you last saw Caleb and Alina on your screens. TLC abruptly cut the couple’s story short when old social media posts of Alina surfaced online.
On Jan. 11, the Before the 90 Days Season 5 star posted what she referred to as a “throwback photo” on her Instagram account. In the photo, she wore a red bandana tied around her head. Alina also used makeup to pencil in a dark beard on her face. The image itself wasn’t particularly offensive. However, the caption she used along with the picture caused fans to do a double-take.
She wrote, “Yo [expletive] gotta do sum [sic] gold diggin #gangsta #mymomwantedason #throwback #homecoming” Before long, negative comments began to roll in, and the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star deleted the post. It didn’t take long before people found other racially insensitive posts.
TLC editors scrambled to remove upcoming scenes with Caleb and Alina, a move that caused some fans to see the same clips in multiple episodes. On Jan. 26, 2022, TLC released a statement regarding Alina’s removal from the show.
The statement from TLC reads, “TLC discontinued filming with Alina Kozhevnikova following the recent discovery of her past social media statements. She will not appear on the upcoming Tell-All, any future seasons of the franchise, and starting next month, she will no longer appear on Before the 90 Days. TLC does not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind.”
Caleb addressed his absence from the ‘Before the 90 Days’ tell-all via Instagram
Even though it was only Alina who TLC chose to fire for her comments, Caleb didn’t appear on the Before the 90 Days Season 5 tell-all. Host Shaun Robinson acknowledged the couple’s absence, but only to say they would not be attending. Now, Caleb has addressed the elephant in the room.
In an Instagram post, the Before the 90 Days Season 5 star writes, “As everyone has noticed and was announced on the episode, I’m not at the Tell All. I wish my fellow 90 Day castmates the best. Stay tuned next week for part 2 as all the couple’s relationship statuses unfold.”
While it doesn’t look like part two of the tell-all includes Caleb, stranger things have happened.
Caleb broke up with Alina during his last appearance in the season
Caleb struggled to acclimate to all of Alina’s needs as a person with Diastrophic Dysplasia. The medical condition causes her short stature and affects her joints. During their last appearance in the series, Caleb ultimately chose to end the relationship.
“I deeply care about Alina, so it really tears me apart to see her like this. I wish she could see that I’ve been trying, that I put in all this effort,” Caleb said. “But at this point, I can’t commit to Alina.”
