’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’: No, You’re Not Going Crazy. TLC Used Repeat Footage of Alina and Caleb in Episode 9

Fans of Before the 90 Days felt like they experienced deja vu watching episode 9 on Sunday night. While new footage included couples like Jasmine and Gino, the scenes with Caleb and Alina audiences had seen before. Why is TLC using repeat footage of the couple? Fans believe it’s because TLC gave Alina the boot after posting racist remarks on her social media pages.

TLC alleged fired ‘Before the 90 Days’ star Alina due to racist remarks made on social media

Before the 90 Days star Alina recently came under fire after some of her social media posts surfaced. Some of her posts included derogatory language toward the Black community, while others made fun of the Muslim culture.

On Jan. 24, 2022, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup claimed that TLC fired Alina. They said the network was currently scrambling to edit her and Caleb’s story out of the remaining episodes. According to the site, “The Ashley’s sources at TLC— the network behind the 90 Day spinoff— tell her that the decision was made over the weekend to hack Alina from the show, due to multiple racist and offensive social media posts she’s made in the past that have continued to surface.”

The Ashley’s Reality Roundup continued, “The Ashley’s sources tell her that the show’s editors are currently scrambling to cut Alina— who hails from Russia and is appearing on the show with her Arizona-based man Caleb Greenwood—out of future episodes.”

However, since the site made those claims, episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days continue to showcase Alina’s journey with Caleb. This week fans noticed something odd about the clips used in episode 9.

TLC used repeat footage of ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ couple Alina and Caleb

If you thought you were watching previously seen footage of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days couple Alina and Caleb, you weren’t alone. Fans of the series flooded the 90 Day Fiancé subreddit to question what they watched.

One Redditor created this post, “So I’m not sure if this was also on the new aired episode but on Discovery+, this Alina scene (Caluuub [sic] was mad and went to the gym and Alina helped Elijah finish packing and then Calub [sic] walked out with Elijah and Elijah said fo take care of his girl. Is this something other people noticed too? I know Alina is being removed so they may be taking scenes we’ve already seen and spreading them out more but it’s so weird!”

Other viewers were just as confused. “Things got strange…..For some reason, they replayed Alina and Caleb, waking up the day after, Elijah told on Alina. Then, Elijah going back to Russia,” wrote someone else.

Several fans thought the reuse of Alina and Caleb’s scene stemmed from her release from the show

Before long, other fans of the show chimed in to explain their thoughts on the subject. With Alina’s alleged firing, viewers believe the network is simply reusing old story clips to fill space in the remaining episodes of Before the 90 Days Season 5.

“The Alina and Caleb segments are repeated and will be until the end of the season. The reason is that TLC ended Alina’s contract because of all the racist stuff that came out about her. Sucks for Caleb since the cast get paid for each new episode they are featured in. Although I don’t get why they chose to air repeat segments instead of just adding more scenes of the other couples,” said one Redditor.

Previews for Before the 90 Days Season 5 Episode 10 included no footage of Alina and Caleb. It remains to be seen if the producers will reuse footage of the couple once again for filler. Catch all-new episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 5 on Sundays on TLC and discovery+.
