The new season of 90 Day Fiancé is well underway and fans are getting to know each of the new couples. Brandon Gibbs and Julia Trubkina are one of the newest couples to be featured. From early on in the season, it has become clear that Gibbs and Trubkina have a lot to overcome, the biggest obstacle being his overbearing mother. But now, Gibbs has revealed that the two almost got violent in their past.

How did Brandon and Julia meet?

Gibbs and Trubkina really met by chance. Gibbs was FaceTiming one of his friends and saw the Russian beauty in the background. He fell in love with her almost instantly and flew to Russia to meet her. When Trubkina tried to visit Gibbs, her visa was denied. Instead of trying again, the two flew to Iceland to see one another. While there, Gibbs proposed, which meant that Trubkina could apply for the K-1 fiancé visa to come to America.

When Trubkina arrived in Washington, D.C. to meet Gibbs, she quickly learned that he had a much closer relationship with his parents than she had originally thought and that his parents would not allow them to share a bedroom.

Julia’s life on the farm

After leaving D.C., Trubkina was introduced to Gibbs’ life in Virgina on the farm.

“I very like animals but I don’t want to take care of animals,” Trubkina said on the show after being shown all the farmwork she would have to do.

“I want to help Brandon but his mother not think to ask me, ‘Julia do you want to help? Or do you not want to help? How do you feel about it?’ She say, ‘you need to do this,'” she continued. “I am a dancer, I am a designer…I like not place for working. I don’t want to work on a farm.”

After the episode aired, Gibbs’ parents got some harsh criticism about being dog breeders. But Trubkina took to Instagram to defend them.

“I think you need to close this topic once and for all! Everyone can ask, not make up a story!” she wrote. “Dogs are watched by 2 people 24 hours a day (naturally I exaggerate, people need to sleep at night) but the first rise is at 5 a.m. to walk and feed the dogs. Dogs walk 3 times a day, sometimes more. Not 2 minutes but how much they want! They are combed, fed. They play with them, train them, [and] remove [them from] their cells 2 times a day. They live better than many people, some dogs live in the house because they want to! So if you were so worried about this topic, I hope I clarified the situation for you.”

Julia almost stabbed Brandon

In a recent Instagram Q&A, Gibbs opened up about his relationship with his Russian fiancé. When a fan asked him what the most difficult part of dating a Russian was, he revealed an anecdote that was actually quite scary.

“One time I walked into Julia’s apartment,” he said, adding that he did not take his shoes off before entering which is “something they do not do in Russia.”

As a result, his fiancé “almost f*cking stabbed” him.

If that’s all it takes to almost get stabbed, Gibbs might want to watch how much he lets his mom boss Trubkina around.
