’90 Day Fiancé’: The Details of Why Tim Clarkson Cheated on Melyza
It was made clear right away that 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way couple Tim Clarkson and Melyza were working through something in their relationship. We knew Tim had betrayed Melyza’s trust in some way and he was still working to make things up to her. Then, it came out that Tim had cheated.
Why Tim cheated on Melyza
Tim says he cheated on Melyza because he was “lonely.” He was going to propose to her when she visited him in Texas on a tourist visa last year. But he cheated on her with a co-worker just before she arrived.
“Last year, the distance between me and Melyza, at that time, was very difficult. I felt lonely,” he said. “The girl that I ultimately cheated with was a co-worker.”
Tim says he and his co-worker started off talking as friends but one thing led to another.
“It just started off as casual conversation,” he admitted. “It got to the point where we did have an intimate sexual encounter.”
When Melyza got to Texas she “had her suspicions” about Tim so checked his social media. That’s where she discovered that things weren’t right.
Tim is moving to Colombia to make things work with Melyza
Tim says he’s not movie to Colombia “to make up for” the cheating. He’s moving to prove his commitment to his partner.
“If I’m ever going to gain her trust back, this is something I’ve got to do to prove my commitment to her, and it’s going to be a long road,” he explained. “But she’s worth it.”
In the July 20 episode, Melyza said she felt Tim’s mistake “contaminated” their relationship.
“We were very committed to each other. I definitely saw myself getting married to him and I saw myself having kids with him,” she said. “I never in a million years thought that he was the kind of person who cheats ever, ever. The pain that I was going through, like, completely consumed me.”
But Melyza hasn’t given up on her relationship with Tim yet.
“I was just angry and upset, but I love him. I have been with him for years now. So, he kind of deserves a second chance,” she said. “It’s going to be a long road for Tim to restore trust and, in his case, to prove [to] me that he’s actually changing. … I am hopeful for us, but I have to protect myself because pretty much anything could separate us at this point.”
And Tim is willing to do whatever it takes to make Melyza comfortable in their relationship again.
“There’s no way that I expect her to trust me or believe me again, but everything that I’m doing right now, I’m genuine about,” he said. “I genuinely want to do all of the right things to redeem myself and to just deserve her again. I really hope I get it right.”
