90 Day Fiancé star Babygirl Lisa Hamme is working on overcoming her latest hurdle with Usman Umar, and it seems like she may have just succeeded. The reality star is dating Usman Umar, a Nigerian up-and-coming rapper. However, Usman Umar’s mother is not so keen on her son marrying an older woman. In an effort to win her over, Umar and Hamme attended a service at a mosque, but it wasn’t clear if that was going to be enough to earn her blessing. Here’s what we know now. [Warning: spoilers ahead.]

Usman Umar’s mother is worried for her son

Usman Umar’s mother is not pleased that her son is interested in marrying Babygirl Lisa Hamme. In fact, quite the opposite. The matriarch claims that marrying an older woman is basically forbidden.

She told 90 Day Fiancé producers, “When Lisa came to the mosque to pray, I was happy. But we Hausas do not permit a younger man to marry an older woman. And I am scared. He’s a black man. When he gets to American they will turn him into a servant. That is my fear.”

Perhaps some of her concerns are justified, as Hamme frequently scolds Umar and bosses him around. Even during the conversation with his mother, Hamme was somewhat demanding and bossy with Usman when it came to translation.

Usman Umar explained that when it comes to winning over his mother’s blessing, they’re not planning on giving up. According to Umar, it’s important for him to have this blessing in order for him to marry Hamme.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Babygirl Lisa Hamme announced that she had managed to win over Usmar Uman’s mother and earn her blessing.

On April 22, she posted to Instagram, “Breaking news, Mommy has gave her blessings. Yea Allah! World celebration let’s toast to all!”

The post has some fans scratching their heads. Hamme removed it rather quickly, which raised some eyebrows. However, it’s likely that Hamme removed the post as a result of her NDA with TLC regarding 90 Day Fiancé and the status of her relationship with Umar.

Additionally, fans are wondering if Hamme converted to Islam. Umar’s mother is a devout Muslim, and it would probably help her case if she converted. Her post does praise Allah — perhaps viewers will be treated to a conversion sometime down the line on the show.

Usman Umar is currently sick

Meanwhile, Usman Umar recently revealed that he’s battling a challenging illness. It remains unclear what exactly has the reality star and up-and-coming rapper sick. He posted to his Instagram, “I’m seriously SICK. Pls i need ur prayer [sic].”

Hamme has been keeping fans updated, though she has deleted a post made about Umar’s illness since initially adding them to her Instagram. Before deleting her post, Hamme wrote, “Yes, it’s TRUE Usman is sick an all prayers are welcome by Gods Grace he will be fine!! Feel better my Soja luv [sic].”

Hamme then added, “Just pray in the meantime I have spoken to my Babylove less than an hour my line will be kept open for communication with Nigeria thank you all.”

In an effort to put down rumors that Umar may have COVID-19, Hamme added to her Instagram story, writing, “Let me squash these crazy a** bloggers right d*** now Usman is sick but to state he has coronavirus hellfire to each of you who report such sh*t I’m still BGL an [sic] still ain’t putting up with y’all bullsh*t.”
