Elizabeth Potthast Castravet and Andrei Castravet were a controversial couple on the fifth season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.

Elizabeth, a devoted mom to daughter Eleanor, and Andrei, who hails from Moldova, were often criticized by fans for their strained relationships with Elizabeth’s family members. Meanwhile, other viewers took Elizabeth and Andrei’s side, instead arguing that Elizabeth’s dad and siblings antagonized her husband for no reason at all.

In a recent Instagram Q&A with fans, Elizabeth answered followers’ questions about everything from parenting to Andrei’s penchant for going shirtless on social media. She also responded to 90 Day Fiancé fans who wanted to know how they dealt with all the online criticism.

Elizabeth answered questions about her ‘mom life’ with little Eleanor

Outside of her reality TV career, Elizabeth is clearly enamored with her one-year-old daughter, Eleanor. The 30-year-old mom frequently shares photos of her quality time with her daughter and family on social media. So it’s no wonder that the Florida-based 90 Day Fiancé star answered a few questions about parenting in her recent fan Q&A on her Instagram stories.

One fan wanted to know if Eleanor was a Mommy’s girl or Daddy’s girl – and Elizabeth said she was really in love with them both.

“Honestly, I really think that she’s both,” Elizabeth told the curious fans. “I don’t know if that’s allowed, but I really think it’s both. It just depends on her mood. Some days, she’s really into Mama, and some days, she’s really into Daddy.”

Andrei and Elizabeth have also made a point of teaching Eleanor about both of their cultures. The couple got married for a second time in Andrei’s home country in part so Eleanor could be baptized into her dad’s religion, Orthodox Christianity.

Elizabeth told 90 Day Fiancé fans that Eleanor was also becoming bilingual. At home, Elizabeth spoke English to her daughter, while Andrei spoke Romanian. So far, Elizabeth said, she understood both languages equally – and they hoped to keep it that way.

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star also joked about her husband’s frequent shirtlessness

Andrei has been called out for many things during the time he’s appeared on 90 Day Fiancé and 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. One of them is his frequent penchant for going shirtless, both on the show and in social media snapshots. (Of course, many fans have said they don’t exactly mind.)

“Does Andrei own any shirts?” one of Elizabeth’s followers asked. “Not that I’m complaining, lol.”

Elizabeth explained that Andrei’s love of shirtlessness seemed to be an inherited trait, if anything.

“This man probably has more shirts than I do,” she laughed. “But no, I think it might be a cultural thing, because his family does the same thing in Moldova. Not to mention, it’s super hot in Florida, so I can’t blame him.”

And when another fan asked if Andrei “at least wore a shirt while eating,” he gave a characteristically terse answer: “No. Because I don’t need to.”

The Castravets said they weren’t bothered by ‘haters’ at all

Elizabeth and Andrei have attracted plenty of attention – both positive and negative – since first appearing on TLC just before their wedding.

Some 90 Day Fiancé fans think the couple’s obvious chemistry and shared love for their daughter are heartwarming. But many viewers have criticized Andrei for his attitude, sometimes calling him “chauvinistic” and overly bossy. Others have pushed back against Andrei’s lack of employment and his willingness to borrow money from his father-in-law, despite their mutual dislike.

One fan wanted to know if all the criticism ever bothered the couple.

“Did you like being on TV, and how did you handle the hate?” they asked.

Elizabeth explained that she and Andrei actually loved being on the show: “We love sharing our journey with you guys. We are so happy to do it, and we really appreciate all your love and support.”

Even the criticism, she admitted, didn’t really bother them. “But honestly, if you don’t have haters, you’re probably doing something wrong,” she laughed. “So we’re happy to have haters. We love you too.”

While some 90 Day Fiancé stars have spoken out against TLC, Andrei and Elizabeth have always said they love the crew and the chance to be on the show. So it’s not surprising that they would also have a thick skin when it comes to negative comments.
