’90 Day Fiancé’: Elizabeth’s Family Calls Moldova ‘The Scariest Place On Earth’ in a ‘Happily Ever After’ Sneak Peek

Andrei Castravet has never gotten along with Elizabeth Potthast’s family on TLC’s ‘90 Day Fiancé.’ And in a sneak peek of the upcoming June 22 episode of ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After,’ Elizabeth’s sisters confronted her yet again about Andrei’s most recent behavior.

90 Day Fiancé star Elizabeth Potthast’s husband, Andrei Castravet, never did get along with her family—especially her father and older sisters. Elizabeth met Andrei on a dating app, and the pair quickly became a couple after she visited his home country, Moldova.

Now, Andrei and Elizabeth are proud parents to one-year-old baby Eleanor. They are also starring on the fifth season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. Despite their addition of a new grandchild into the mix, though, it doesn’t seem like Andrei’s relationship with his in-laws has improved much.

On a new TLC GO sneak peek of the upcoming June 22 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Elizabeth’s sisters confronted her about Andrei’s unexpected announcement that her family would be expected to attend their second wedding in Moldova—which he also hoped his father-in-law would pay for.

Elizabeth admitted she felt torn between her family and Andrei

Elizabeth sat down for a difficult poolside conversation with her sisters on the sneak peek of the upcoming episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.

At her dad’s recent birthday party, Andrei—without consulting her—had dropped a bombshell on her family by inviting them to a second wedding in Moldova. Elizabeth’s family was frustrated that they wouldn’t have time to prepare for the trip and felt caught off guard by the news.

“I get why my family is upset with Andrei, but at this point, honestly, it’s just a matter of getting my family on board,” Elizabeth told 90 Day Fiancé producers, adding that they sometimes downplayed how much Andrei had done for her. “They need to remember that he really sacrificed a lot to marry me and to come to America and start from scratch.”

Elizabeth’s sisters, Becky and Megan, immediately started asking her why Andrei hadn’t cleared things with his wife before making an announcement about the upcoming nuptials in front of the whole family.

“We had a conversation, but we didn’t discuss timing or inviting anybody,” Elizabeth admitted. Still, she tried to defend her husband’s decision somewhat, adding: “But he’s right. In order for her to be baptized, we have to be married in their church there.”

When Elizabeth’s sisters found out there wasn’t even a venue booked for the event, their jaws dropped even further. “So we’re scrambling when there’s nothing even booked yet. Great,” Becky said sarcastically.

Megan told TLC producers that she thought Andrei’s sudden invitation was the height of arrogance on his part. “It’s another wedding planned last-minute, but this time in Europe,” she explained, “expecting us all to just drop what we’re doing, our families, our businesses, just, ‘You’ll be there or whatever.’”

Elizabeth had to admit that her sisters had a point when it came to their attitudes about the last-minute ceremony. “Trust me, I get it,” the 90 Day Fiancé star said sheepishly. “I totally get it, which is why I was really angry with him. I mean, it’s not giving you guys any time to get ready.”

The new mom’s sisters claimed Moldova was a dangerous country

But Elizabeth’s sisters had a few additional concerns besides the obvious issues with travel, work, and childcare. Megan and Becky insisted that Moldova was a dangerous country to visit, especially with kids.

Elizabeth looked a little taken aback by the claims. She promised her sisters, “It’s not unsafe.”

Becky cut in and declared that Moldova wasn’t a place she wanted to visit anytime soon. “Actually, I looked it up, and it’s the scariest place on earth to visit,” she said of Andrei’s home country.

“What does that even mean, the scariest place?” Elizabeth retorted.

Megan agreed with Becky, exclaiming, “Everything’s corrupt. The police are corrupt.”

“They hijack tourists and hold them for ransom money,” Becky added.

The sisters told 90 Day Fiancé producers that they were nervous about what they’d read about Moldova online. “It’s very, very scary, the things that we’re finding on the internet,” they said. “Everything that’s popping up makes us even more apprehensive and scared.”

Andrei’s wife looked offended by her sisters’ claims about Moldova, where she met her husband in the first place. “Moldova is not dangerous at all,” she said confidently—but they didn’t look convinced.

Elizabeth told TLC producers that she didn’t agree with her sisters’ concerns and thought they were overblown at best. “I understand that my sisters have concerns about the timing and, what are we going to do with our children?” she said. “But then, some of the comments that they’re making are just ignorant.”

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star said the wedding put her in a ‘difficult position’

When Elizabeth’s other sister, Jenn, arrived for the family’s pool day, she couldn’t have agreed more that Andrei’s plans were out of line. She even argued that Andrei might have had ulterior motives in announcing the event the way he did.

“I think he did it so he could say he invited us, and then it was our fault that we didn’t come,” Jenn claimed.

When the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After star revealed that Andrei wanted her dad to pay for the “wedding of their dreams,” Jenn scoffed, “Of course he does! I knew that he was going to ask Dad to pay for it.”

What’s more, Elizabeth revealed, Andrei wanted her to be the one to ask her father for the money. “So he’s not even man enough to ask Dad himself to pay for his Moldovan wedding?” Becky snapped.

While Elizabeth admitted she didn’t want to ask her father to fund her second wedding—at all—she also confessed that she understood Andrei’s reasoning to some extent. “Weddings cost money, and we don’t have that right now,” the 90 Day Fiancé star said. “And, to be honest, if Andrei asked my dad to pay for our wedding, he’d probably say no. So now, I’m just going to have to do it myself.”

Becky and Megan both said they likely wouldn’t be in attendance at a Moldovan wedding, especially one that was slated for just a month away. A crestfallen Elizabeth told 90 Day Fiancé producers that she often felt torn between her husband and the rest of her family.

“Having this wedding in Moldova so soon has put me in a very difficult situation between my family and my husband,” she lamented near the end of the sneak peek. “And, like always, I’m stuck in the middle of it, trying to make sure everyone is happy.”
