Stephanie Matto came out as bisexual on ’90 Day Fiancé’

The season started with Matto revealing that she planned to meet Owens in Australia. Matto was interested in pursuing a relationship with her, but she hasn’t come out to most people in her life yet.

“I’ve kept my bisexuality a secret from my family and most of my friends,” she said on the show. “I’ve never felt brave enough to come out to my mom because she does have these grand ideas of me marrying a doctor or lawyer, a man above all else.”

Matto went to Australia and told her mom that she’s meeting a “friend.” She often avoided physical touch with Owens, which made things awkward. They eventually broke up, but Matto did come out to her mother by the end of the season.

Fans started questioning if Matto was bisexual because she avoided being physical, and would put off coming out. Matto has responded to this accusation.

Matto denied pretending to be bisexual

Matto addressed the rumor that she was only pretending to be bisexual to get on 90 Day Fiancé in an Instagram Story. “If I was truly not bisexual, WHY would I go on the show with a woman??? Why not fake it with a guy if that is who I was truly attracted to??? And if I was truly faking it, then why did it crash and burn?” she wrote according to Reality TV World. “Wouldn’t I, a content creator, create something better than what you all saw?! I lack affection, I am insecure, and I want months to have sex with ANYONE. With men and with women.”

She then wrote “I don’t care what [genitals] you have, if I don’t feel 100% in the moment I am not faking sh*t.” Now Owens is responding to fans trying to drag Matto.

Owens is now responding to fans who are questioning Matto’s sexuality. She defended the YouTuber.

“Honestly, I can only speak for my experience and who I am,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Sexuality is a very personal thing, and sometimes it takes, like, exploring yourself to be able to figure that out, you know? It sucks that at some points, it felt like the figuring out of things was at my expense, but I’m not gonna sit here and say that she is something or she isn’t, because that’s her own personal journey.”

She continued, “I don’t think it’s fair for them to say that in the first place to a stranger and secondly, you know, to even make a judgment in the first place. Of course, like, people can have their doubts or whatever, but like I’ve mentioned before, this is Steph’s journey and its no one’s place to, like, publicly go for her.”

The season might not have ended with Owens and Matto still being in a relationship, but Owens still has her back. Fans might find out more about their time filming in the Tell All, which airs June 6 on TLC.
