There are all kinds of relationships on 90 Day FianceSome are deeper than others. There are couples whose arrangements are clearly more financial than romantic, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

As long as both members of a pair know that money is the deciding factor in the relationship, not love, it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Unfortunately, that’s not often the case. Even though it may be obvious to fans that one party is being used, usually the victim is unsuspecting. Fans often can’t fathom these types of relationships. That includes David’s relationship with Lana.

David and Lana started on ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’

Unlike on the original version of the show, 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days follow Americans who are traveling internationally to meet their prospective partners. Some of these are new relationships, others are well established. That seemed to be the case of Lana and David’s relationship. They were chatting online and in a long-distance ‘relationship’ for seven years before David was filmed traveling to Lana’s native Ukraine.

The two brought drama to the fourth season of the show, and apparently it’s still going on. On the Tell All episode, David revealed that although Lana agreed to marry him, he hadn’t heard from her in a long time. According to David: “She told me a couple weeks ago that all she wanted was a white picket fence and a simple life with me, traveling in the RV. She loves that idea, but right now, today, I think we’re not together.”

David and Lana’s relationship seems one-sided

Fans never thought that the engagement was going to work out. Lana doesn’t seem interested in David at all. In fact, he went to Ukraine four times to meet her, and she stood him up each one. When he went as part of 90 Day Fiance  she showed up to meet David, but she was very distant. Even though David gave Lana an iPhone so she would be able to contact him more frequently, she was unreachable during the Tell All.

She’s also apparently not able to use the phone to take her profile off of online dating sites. David pays to use the website where he met Lana, and it’s not cheap. He’s spent thousands on the site alone, and Lana’s profile is still up. She hasn’t taken it down now that she’s ‘engaged,’ and she still has profiles on other sites too. David claims that Lana’s manicured nails make it difficult for her to use the phone properly.

’90 Day Fiancé’: Does David Murphey Really Have Any Room to Comment On Yolanda Getting Catfished?

Fans think the only reason David is still interested in Lana is because of the money he’s put in so far. He doesn’t want all that to go to waste, so he’ll marry her even though it’s not a great relationship by any sense of the word. But it’s not just fans who think David is getting scammed by Lana.

Other participants on the show tried to tell him the same thing. During the Tell All, David and Big Ed got into a tiff. Ed came out and told David that he’s being “scammed” by Lana. He continued to defend her and even said that if she is talking to other guys, that’s OK. They’re her friends, and David says Lana needs their company to help her “escape” her life in Ukraine.

Many of the other participants expressed concern over David’s situation, especially considering how long he’s been talking to Lana. That’s a red flag since there were a few other people on the show this season who were being scammed themselves.

Yolanda may have been catfished by her ‘boyfriend’ Williams. Big Ed spent thousands of dollars on gifts for his fiance Rosemarie. Even Usman laughed at Lana’s excuses, and he’s been accused of scamming his ex-girlfriend Lisa. But David still sees a future with Lana, despite the fact that she’s not currently responding to his messages.
