Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee were already on the rocks even before the second season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. But the already-tenuous relationship between Deavan, a 23-year-old model and mom of two from Utah, and 29-year-old Jihoon, from South Korea, appeared to fall apart at the seams when Deavan moved to Jihoon’s home country with her daughter, Drascilla, and the couple’s son, Taeyang, for the second time.

Jihoon and Deavan already had major trust issues, but their ongoing financial problems—as well as Jihoon’s dishonesty about his job and living situation, as well as his difficult relationship with Deavan’s controversial mom, Elicia Clegg—eventually led to the total breakdown of their relationship.

In recent weeks, the couple finally confirmed their split after quite a bit of back-and-forth on social media. Deavan moved on with her new boyfriend, model and actor Topher Park, which sparked criticism from many fans about her ability to move on so quickly. 90 Day Fiancé fans swarmed the comments of Deavan’s latest Instagram post to voice their displeasure about her behavior towards her soon-to-be-ex-husband.

Deavan recently shared a photo of herself with her son, Taeyang

On Sept. 19, Deavan took to Instagram to share a sweet snapshot of herself with one-year-old Taeyang, her son with Jihoon.

“My little duck,” the young mom wrote in her Instagram caption. “His hair always reminds me of a cute duck. No matter what I do it always sticks up and it’s the cutest thing in the world my heart.”

Although many fans initially supported Deavan, calling Jihoon “immature” and “selfish,” some viewers took Jihoon’s side as time went on, with many of them arguing that Deavan was overly judgmental and harsh. In response to Deavan’s post with her son—with whom she recently allowed her new boyfriend to take a photo on his birthday—some fans criticized the 90 Day Fiancé star for jumping into a new relationship just months after the end of her relationship with Jihoon.

“Poor boy probably misses his dad,” one critic wrote. “And is probably confused if your new boyfriend is his dad or not. Work on your family instead of getting a new boyfriend.”

Other critics argued that Deavan’s new partner might be “using her for clout” due to his career in the modeling and acting industry. Others reminded Deavan that it was important for Taeyang to maintain a strong relationship with his other side of the family, no matter how her relationship with her husband was going.

“Poor Jihoon and his parents, being so far away,” one Instagram user mused. “They deserve to see the baby.”

Some ’90 Day Fiancé’ fans defended Deavan for moving on from Jihoon

While many fans leveled criticism at Deavan, others defended her for her choices. Some 90 Day Fiancé viewers argued that it was her right to move on, especially if—as she has claimed—Jihoon didn’t want to continue co-parenting with her.

“If things didn’t work out with the child’s father and he doesn’t want anything to do with his own son then as sad as this is to say this sweet child is better off without him,” one fan argued in defense of Deavan. “Let her live her best life and be with who she loves.”

Another of Deavan’s supporters argued that six months was plenty of time to decide to start dating someone new after a breakup.

“It’s her life,” they wrote. “She said her relationship was over 6 months ago. Let her live.”

Jihoon recently claimed he couldn’t see his son in the U.S.

Of course, there are two (or three, or four) sides to every story, especially when it comes to an international breakup. And 90 Day Fiancé fans have often had whiplash trying to follow the tumultuous ups and downs of Jihoon and Deavan’s rollercoaster marriage.

On Sept. 3, Jihoon shared part of his side of the split in a lengthy Instagram post. In addition to noting that there was “no divorce on paper,” he admitted to blocking Deavan and her family on social media due to his pain over the situation.

“Now I think of him every day,” Jihoon wrote of his young son. “But I can’t see him right now, so I spend the day focusing on other things. The reality is terrible. I know all this sh*t. Like he’s going to have a new father. Do you know how it feels? My heart is always breaking.”

In turn, however, Deavan recently argued that fans couldn’t see the whole picture. In an Instagram comment screenshotted by Cinema Blend, the 23-year-old claimed that Jihoon called her and both of her children “vile things” and “degrading vile names” over the course of their protracted breakup. She also insisted that Jihoon was the one who didn’t want to co-parent, despite her best efforts.

On her Instagram stories on Sept. 22, Deavan declared that Jihoon hadn’t yet signed the divorce papers, either.

Meanwhile, the 90 Day Fiancé star wrote, she wouldn’t be attending the upcoming Tell-All with her castmates. Still, Deavan assured her fans, the viewers would eventually know her side of the story.

“Look out for the future the truth will be released…the truth of my story will come out in time,” she promised her followers in an emotional post.
