Elizabeth Potthast Castravet and Andrei Castravet of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé first met in Dublin, while Elizabeth was on vacation. They immediately hit it off and knew they’d be together, despite the odds.

Andrei hails from Chisinau, Moldova, while Elizabeth is from Tampa, Florida. The couple first appeared on the fifth season of 90 Day Fiancé and has since appeared on various spinoffs, including 90 Day Fiancé: What Now, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, and 90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk, among others.

Despite a few obstacles due to Elizabeth’s family’s disapproval of their marriage and their cultural differences when it came to gender roles, Elizabeth and Andrei tied the knot in 2017 and haven’t looked back. They’re now proud parents to their daughter, Eleanor, who recently turned two years old.

But some 90 Day Fiancé fans weren’t too happy with Andrei and Elizabeth after a recent Instagram photo, in which they revealed they were traveling by plane during the COVID-19 crisis.

Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet recently showed snapshots of their flight

On Feb. 2, Elizabeth and Andrei shared Instagram photos that got a few 90 Day Fiancé fans talking. In the snapshots, the couple posed in their masks in the Tampa International Airport and on an airplane.

“Our first time flying in over a year,” Elizabeth captioned the post. “Seems scary. Have you flown recently? Any tips?!”

They didn’t specify where they were going, but they made it clear that they hadn’t been traveling throughout the pandemic. Elizabeth later shared Instagram stories about Andrei’s upcoming birthday, so it’s possible that they’re planning a romantic getaway.

Some ’90 Day Fiancé’ fans criticized Elizabeth and Andrei for traveling

Some 90 Day Fiancé fans weren’t happy about Andrei and Elizabeth’s vacation, with some accusing them of putting themselves and others at risk amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Several implied that the couple was selfish for posting about their trip while many had to stay home because of work or because they or people around them were at risk.

“Don’t post on social media that you’re flying somewhere during a pandemic,” one critic responded to Elizabeth. “That’s my tip.”

“Uh no I haven’t flown recently,” another commenter wrote to the 90 Day Fiancé stars. “We’re in a global pandemic.”

“No way would I get on an airplane unless there were an emergency,” yet another 90 Day Fiancé fan remarked.

Other ’90 Day Fiancé’ fans defended the couple

Still, some fans defended the 90 Day Fiancé stars, arguing that it was their choice what risks they took.

“Give me a break,” one Instagram user commented. “Everyone has their own brain. If you choose to travel you choose the risk of exposure.”

But, as another commenter pointed out: “If you choose to travel, you choose to risk infecting and hurting other people.”

This wasn’t the first time Elizabeth and Andrei were criticized for their choices during the pandemic. They also drew criticism after posting YouTube videos of themselves grocery shopping with their daughter earlier during widespread social distancing restrictions.
