Angela Deem’s relationship with Michael Ilesanmi has been complicated from the beginning

The couple first met over Facebook and began a cyber relationship. As their romance took off, Angela flew from her home in rural Georgia to meet him in person in Nigeria, where they got engaged.

Michael tried to obtain a visa to move to the United States but when his application got denied, Angela traveled back to Nigeria so they could marry and have a better chance of getting approved.

However, the lead-up to the ceremony has arguably been just as stressful, with the pair clashing over everything from their baby plans to their cultural differences. It got so intense in a recent episode that Angela even said she no longer wanted to get married.

Angela Deem had a meltdown on a recent episode

On the July 26 episode, the couple headed to a local market in preparation for a dinner with Michael’s family, where they planned to discuss their wedding. But when Angela realized that it was an outdoor market and not a grocery store, she immediately began to complain.

Explaining the way she likes to grocery shop, Angela said: “I go into a grocery store, where it’s air conditioner, where things are processed, canned, you know? Just looking around, I don’t like what I see.”

As she browsed the rows with Michael, Angela was visibly uncomfortable and seemed ready to leave. She suggested that they just go and order a pizza, but when Michael informed her his mom isn’t a fan of the dish, she had no choice but to stick around.

However, once they moved toward the meat section, where there were freshly butchered animals, Angela lost it. Michael told her he just wanted to get some goat, but Angela refused and started pulling away from him. “I’m not going down there and getting no goat’s meat!” she yelled, holding her shirt over her face to block the smell. “No, no, no, no, no, go Michael!”

She grew increasingly agitated until she caught a glimpse of a table with goat heads and fully freaked out. “Aargh!” she screamed, taking off through the market. As she and Michael made their way to the car, Angela unleashed her frustration on him.

“I’m not a Nigerian woman, Michael,” she yelled. “I’m American. I ain’t eating no frickin’ goat’s head. F*ck that sh*t, man. You ain’t getting me sick.”

She started to gag once they reached the car while continuing to let loose on her fiancé. “Some things I can’t do, man,” she told him as she tried to calm her down. “I can’t live like this. God, thank you for the United States of America.”

“I can’t go back to that meat. I probably got malaria now,” she snapped. “You know I’m a hypochondriac, and I’m feeling sick.”

Over time, Angela seemed to calm down but she continued to vent about the experience as they drove away from the market.

Fans react to Angela Deem’s meltdown

A lot of viewers were shocked by Angela’s behavior, calling it ignorant, disrespectful, and so much more.

“How do u get malaria from LOOKING at uncooked meat !?!” one fan wondered after watching the scene.

Another viewer questioned if Angela is making a smart decision in marrying Michael due to their many cultural differences. “Angela got all these issues with Nigerian culture why you picked a Nigerian man to marry? I’m so confused. ‘You American, you do American sh*t’, marry an American man…how hard is this?” read the tweet.

A third fan offered up some advice for the TV star, writing, “Angela go learn how to cook african food for your husband and stop forcing america on them, have respect for culture and tradition.”

But another viewer suggested that Angela made her intentions clear in regards to her life with Michael. “sooo what angela is telling us right now is that she’s lazy and won’t do the bare minimum to respect her fiancé’s culture anymore now that she got the blessings,” the tweet read.
