‘90 Day Fiancé’ Fans Touched Watching Armando’s Father Telling Him He’s ‘Proud’ of Him
The biggest hurdle that Armando Rubio and Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Niedermeier had to face so far on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 3 is telling Armando’s father, Armando Sr., about his engagement. Armando sat down with his father in a much-needed heart-to-heart conversation. Fans were all sobbing, watching Armando and his father reconnect.
Armando had a difficult time accepting Armando’s sexuality
Kenny and Armando are the first male gay couple in the history of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. The pair got married in Baja, California, Mexico, in May 2021. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 3 is documenting their journey down the aisle. While we know that Armando and Kenny will be getting married, the concern is that Armando’s family won’t be there to support them.
On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 2, Armando broke the news to his family would take the information that he would be moving with Kenny and his 6-year-old daughter, Hannah, to another city. Even after coming out as gay to his family for a second time, the family had difficulty accepting it. Despite the prejudice, Armando and Kenny moved in together and soon after got engaged.
However, things became complicated when Armando told his family the good news. His family seemed stunned and awkward silence filled the air. Later on, Armandos’ mother said to him that he accepted his engagement but wished Armando would have told first. She also promised to tell Armando’s father eventually. However, during the season 2 Tell-All special, Armando’s mom revealed that his father has yet to learn about his son’s engagement.
Armando has a heart to heart talk with his father
During the Sept. 26th episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Armando finally had the courage to talk to his father. Armando opened up about feelings that he’s been holding in for the past year. His father told him that he had accepted his choice of being with Kenny. Armando told his father about his engagement and that he’s planning on marrying Kenny in the next year.
Armando told his dad, “I want you to be happy that I am happy.” His father replied, “I don’t feel bad. I feel proud. I feel proud because you’re a smart person. You have been able to make the most out of your life. And that’s good enough for me. You are my son; I will always love you.”
Armando tells cameras, “I’ve lived my life trying to make my parents proud, trying to make them happy, and being gay was definitely something nobody would be proud of. And I was ashamed of that for many years. So it’s beautiful to hear that he is pleased with who I became and what I’ve done throughout my life.”

Armando getting a blessing from his father has been one of the most heartwarming moments of the season, if not the franchise. 90 Day Fiancé fans went to Reddit to talk about how touching the moment was to watch. One fan posted a video of a woman crying with the caption, “Actual Video of Me Watching Armando and His Dad.”
A fan commented, “That scene had me tearing up too. It was so raw and risky and could have gone a lot differently.” Another Reddit user commented, “This is accurate. I have issues with my father, and I know exactly how Armando is feeling. All I wanted to do was reach through the tv and give him a huge hug.”
The very raw moment between Armando Sr. and his son made fans all over the world emotional. While 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 3 has become heavy with conflict, it’s a breath of fresh air to see Armando and his father genuinely reconnect. Fans are cautiously optimistic that Armando Sr. will support his son at his wedding to Kenny.
