’90 Day Fiancé’: How a Tragedy Brought Deavan and Jihoon ‘Closer’ Together

On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee are still together on the series. Deavan decided to stay in South Korea to make a life with Jihoon, despite the obstacles that they’ve had to overcome. The couple has just signed a year-long lease, and they even got a new dog named Bam Bam. Their future is on the up, that is, until tragedy strikes.

Deavan Clegg has a miscarriage

In the most recent episode, it’s revealed that Deavan learned that she was pregnant again. She was “scared” about it at first, considering they have Taeyang, who is still fairly new to the world himself. Plus, they have Deavan’s daughter from a previous relationship, Drascilla. Deavan didn’t think the couple was “financially stable” for another child. However, she found herself feeling “excited” about the news, but something terrible happened.

“However, we did get some devastating news recently,” Deavan tells producers. “When I went to a checkup, and they did an ultrasound, that’s when they figured out that we had lost the baby. We had a miscarriage.” It’s been hard on Deavan, and she tells Jihoon that she’s “very sad.”

“It was the hardest thing in my life,” Deavan says. “I was just very devastated.”

How a tragedy brought them ‘closer’ together

Deavan thinks it actually brought her and Jihoon “closer.” They aren’t “fighting,” and it’s shown Deavan how much she loves Jihoon. She admits to him that he’s “very supportive,” and that’s something she needs during this time especially.

“Even though this has happened, I feel like we’re closer, you know?” Deavan says to her husband. “Not fighting. It’s also helping me realize how much I love you because you’ve been there for me. You’re very supportive of me.”

Jihoon thanks his wife, and despite the loss, they seem to be in a good place at the time. The situation has made the couple “bond” and stop all the fighting. “Even though something super tragic happened and we lost the baby, it made me realize with Jihoon, like us fighting about money, fighting about the apartment, fighting about loyalty,” Deavan says. “Losing this baby made us realize like how much we care about each other. And that it’s not worth the petty little fights anymore. And it’s really caused us to bond and stop fighting and be there for each other.”

Deavan spends time with Jihoon’s mother

Deavan says that Jihoon’s mother, Jung, has “really been there” for her during this time. They go out to a modern history museum, where they have a good time together. They walk around a really cool museum filled with Korean life and culture, reminiscing about the past.

“This is like the first time me and Jihoon’s mom are actually having fun,” Deavan tells the cameras. “I don’t think either of us really understand what each are saying, but at least she’s smiling.”

With the trusty translator device, Deavan admits that she’s “struggling” during this time. Jihoon’s mother says she thinks she’s “courageous.” Deavan tells her that the reason she’s “handling” things “so well” is because Jung and her husband have “helped so much.” They both seem to be on better terms together, and it’s a good sign for the future.

Deavan and Jihoon are in a better place, and that goes for Deavan and her mother-in-law. Despite the loss, she seems to be closer to them both now.
