’90 Day Fiancé’: Jenny Claims Sumit Has Finally Filed For Divorce On ‘The Other Way’—But Is He Lying?

Jenny Slatten and Sumit are returning to the second season of TLC’s ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.’ And while Jenny insisted that Sumit had already filed for divorce in advance of her return to India, her daughters weren’t so sure.

Jenny Slatten, a 62-year-old mom from Palm Springs, CA, became a fan favorite when she first appeared on TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way with her 31-year-old Indian husband-to-be, Sumit.

The couple had an online relationship for seven years before Jenny flew out to be with Sumit in India. But when she arrived, she found Sumit was already married—and hiding her from his family, who had arranged his marriage to a woman he didn’t love.

On the early premiere of the second season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, “Home is Where the Heart Is,” Jenny prepared to head out to India once again to be with the love of her life. But Jenny’s daughters warned her that Sumit might not be getting a divorce as he claimed.

Jenny said she forgave Sumit for his dishonesty

Although her heart was broken by Sumit’s dishonesty about his arranged marriage, Jenny said she was willing to forgive him because of how much she loved him. The 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star insisted that she knew she was the one Sumit truly loved, not his soon-to-be-ex-wife.

“I still love Sumit, and I forgave him,” Jenny said. “He never wanted to be with his wife in the first place.”

The single mom added that Sumit had filed for divorce in India and was currently going through the process as she prepared to return to India. After she had to come back to the U.S. the first time, she believed she’d never see him again. But now, she thought she could finally make a life with the man she loved.

“Sumit is filing for divorce,” Jenny said. “He’s proven to me that I’m the one he wants to be with. I’m the one he loves.”

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star’s daughter pushed her to ask for proof of Sumit’s divorce

While Jenny might have been convinced by Sumit, her daughter, Christina, and Christina’s wife, Jen, weren’t so sure.

“They’re very supportive of me and Sumit, but I know they still do worry about our relationship,” Jenny admitted.

Jen and Christina asked Jenny if Sumit still lived with his estranged wife.

“She’s not around,” the 90 Day Fiancé star assured them. “They aren’t living together, and they haven’t been since the whole blow-up thing happened. And they have agreed to a mutual divorce, meaning both sides agreed. It’ll take a couple months, maybe even six months. But his lawyers are working to make it happen quicker.”

As for Jenny, Sumit’s word was enough to make her willing to go through the process again, even if it meant more sacrifice and heartbreak. “Sumit filing for his divorce is all I need to go back to India and be with him,” she said. “He’s gone through a lot. He’s fighting for me.”

“Do you think at all that he’s lying about the divorce?” Jenny’s daughter wanted to know. “Have you seen the paperwork?”

Jenny replied nervously, “Not yet. He doesn’t even have paperwork himself yet.”

“I’d like to see that paperwork,” Christina said, trying to impress upon her mom how much vetting she needed to do to protect herself this time around.

Christina and Jen agreed that Sumit couldn’t simply be trusted without any proof, especially after all the lies he’d already told over the years.

“There’s still a lot of things that he needs to prove, not only to my mom, but to us, too, for us to 100% trust him,” Christina told 90 Day Fiancé producers. “If the lying continues, we’re done. We just can’t continue to support something that is toxic and is absolutely going nowhere. I can’t do it anymore.”

Sumit’s wife-to-be said it would ‘destroy’ her if he lied to her again

Jenny’s daughter assured her mom that she only wanted her to be happy, even if she seemed harsh. “We want the best for you guys,” she promised. “I just hope, from here on out, there’s no more bull****.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star said she understood their doubts. “I think he’s done lying,” Jenny said hopefully. “I hope so, at least. He’d better be.”

And after all she’d given up and been through to be with him, Jenny told TLC producers she just couldn’t put up with any more heartbreak from Sumit. “If Sumit’s not being truthful about his divorce, if he’s lying to me again, that’s the worst thing he can do to me at this point,” Jenny said sadly. “I don’t deserve that. And if it doesn’t work this time, that’ll destroy me.”
