Karine struggles with adjusting to life in America on ’90 Day Fiancé’

Paul and Karine have appeared in season 1 and 3 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, and season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. During that time, fans have witnessed the couple get married, suffer several miscarriages, and eventually welcome their son, Pierre, in March 2019.

As Reality TV World points out, Karine nearly filed for divorce in the weeks leading up to Pierre’s birth. She was tired of fighting with Paul, and believed he had major trust and jealousy issues. She has never really felt supported or taken care of, and that issue has lingered throughout their marriage.

After more than a year in Brazil, Paul admitted that they were “barely getting by.” This led to Paul and Karine moving to America so he could get a job and make more money. But, the money problems have continued and things have gotten worse. After just one month in the United States, Karine made it clear she was struggling with adjusting to life in America.

Despite Karine’s problems adjusting, Paul begged her to give him some time. He promised he would get a job, find them a decent place to live, and take care of everything. But, none of that ever happened. This couple continued a vicious cycle of fighting, breaking up, and getting back together.

In May 2020, Paul and Karine revealed that they were expecting baby number two. In June, she posted a special Father’s Day message for Paul. But by the end of July, the relationship took another nasty turn. Paul posted a lengthy Instagram video to let fans know he and Karine had a huge fight.

He claimed his wife and son were missing after the police were called during the fight. Paul later claimed that Karine had filed a restraining order against him, and he had done the same against her.

In Karine’s restraining order, she claimed Paul had physically and sexually assaulted her. She also accused him of preventing her from getting a prescription for birth control.

Karine secretly contacted an immigration lawyer months before split

According to In Touch Weekly, during the most recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? they revealed that Karine visited an immigration lawyer with Pierre before she split from Paul.

“Things are not well since I arrived in America,” Karine told producers. She explained that she was constantly fighting with Paul because she wasn’t adapting well to America after moving from Brazil.

She gave Paul two months to find a full-time job, but he failed to come through. Karine says that she visited with a lawyer named Rania – with a Portugese translator – to find out her options.

Raina said that Karine’s situation was “complicated.” She said that if Karine left the country with Pierre, but didn’t have Paul’s approval, that would make things much worse.

“Theoretically, you have every right to take your child to go [to Brazil],” Rania told Karine. She later added, “Paul has just as many rights as she does.”

Rania advised Karine to take Pierre on “good terms.”
