’90 Day Fiancé’: Rose Vega Verified On Instagram, Surpasses Big Ed
90 Day Fiancé couple Big Ed and Rose Vega have been divisive for fans of the show. This has largely been due to Big Ed’s behavior. The 54-year-old American traveled to the Philippines to woo Vega, a 23-year-old single mother. Big Ed is a charismatic presence on social media, and has his coterie of diehard fans. However, others feel that the American reality star insulted and disrespected Rose Vega during his visit. Now, with their season coming to a close, the two have amped up their social media presence — and it looks as though Vega might be more beloved by fans.
How Big Ed insulted Rose Vega
90 Day Fiancé star Big Ed caught a lot of backlash from fans for trying to tell Rose Vega what to do with her body, and for insulting her in the process.
The lovestruck American received a dirty look from Vega and pushback from viewers when he asked Rose to shave her legs after an uncomfortable night together in a hotel. Ed told his co-star, “Um, don’t be mad at me, but um, I noticed your legs were kind of like mine, they were hairy. Would you shave your legs?”
Vega was not amused by the suggestion. Unfortunately, things did not improve for the increasingly disillusioned Vega.
Later in the season, Big Ed took Vega to another hotel. This time, he gave her several gifts, including a bikini and a teddy bear. He then offered her a Hello Kitty toothbrush and some mouthwash.
Ed told her, “I got you a couple more things. This is going to be less romantic. So, this is mouthwash. And I got you a cute toothbrush because your breath is not pretty.”
Vega, incensed, explained to Ed that she has bad breath due to an ulcer, and that she brushes her teeth every day. She then walked off while calling him ugly.
Big Ed claimed he was the ‘most authentic’ star
Big Ed managed to draw additional ire, this time from his 90 Day Fiancé co-stars, when he proclaimed himself the “most authentic” person to appear on the current season of the show.
When a fan congratulated Ed for ignoring trolls on his Instagram, Ed wrote back, “I know I get a kick out of this it’s so funny. Do you wanna hear something even more funny all the haters out there made me the most authentic reality star on 90 Day Fiancé history, look it up online. God bless everybody happy Easter I have to go make some videos. All my loves.”
One of Ed’s co-stars, Babygirl Lisa Hamme, fired back at Ed. She wrote, “Ok BGL going go on soapbox for a hot a** minute @thisisbiged your statement is really a myth because the real MVPs are the fans any 90day production is truly a team effort to entertain fans so I’m sure from what I’m reading ppl are definitely seeing it’s a team effort to create an record shows and production team made you an all the way we are seen on television so I see where you lost your way Ed no one is an instant celebrity because we appeared on a television show let’s try an stay grounded because past present and future cast are a team it’s not any singular person to be as you say realest Ed ok [sic].”
Rose Vega beats out ‘90 Day Fiancé’ co-star on Instagram
Now, it seems as though Rose Vega is having the last laugh. Big Ed hustles hard on his Instagram, and as a result has a blue checkmark and 325,000 followers.
However, Rose Vega has managed to surpass Big Ed incredibly quickly. Rose made her first Instagram post in the summer of 2018, but hasn’t been posting regularly until recently, when she began appearing on 90 Day Fiancé.
Since beginning to post more, Vega has earned herself a blue verification checkmark as well. What’s more, the reality star has surpassed Ed’s follower account, accruing over 337,000 followers.
