90 Day Fiancé fans were shocked when they discovered that David Murphey’s Ukrainian love, Lana, was a real person. Many viewers believed that Murphey was simply being played by a catfish online. And while Lana did turn out to be real, some 90 Day Fiancé fans didn’t feel so good about the way David Murphey went about finding her. In fact, some felt as though Murphey was essentially stalking Lana. After all, he was trying to find out where she lived without her knowledge or approval.

David Murphey discovers Lana is real

When David Murphey first appeared on his season of 90 Day Fiancé, fans were immediately suspicious of Lana. Murphey explained that he’d been chatting with Lana online for a long time.

However, fans were convinced Lana was catfishing Murphey. The reality star revealed that he’d been spending money to chat with Lana over a service. The same service seemed to have other opportunities for Murphey to spend money, allegedly on Lana.

Murphey also revealed that he’d been to Ukraine three times before to try and meet Lana, and that he’d been stood up each time. Eventually, he hired a Ukrainian private investigator to track down Lana after visiting Ukraine and being stood up for the fourth time.

Eventually, the private investigator informed Murphey that he’s convinced Lana is scamming him. Murphey’s friend, Victoria, translated for him, “Because when they checked all data and all connections, they find out this girl [has] several dating accounts.”

However, in an absolutely wild twist, Lana turned out to be real, and even appeared on the tell-all episode. Murphey proposed to Lana, and she accepted. It remains to be seen how that will turn out.

David Murphey blames TLC

Fans asked David Murphey how he felt about Lana, and whether or not he truly believed in her during his season of 90 Day Fiancé. Murphey seems to blame TLC for his catfishing experience.

One Instagram user wrote to Murphey, “It’s painful to watch you. If you are acting obtuse on purpose, please have more self-respect. You come across as lonely and desperate, holding onto a dream that wants nothing to do with you.”

Murphey replied, “I don’t control editing.”

Meanwhile, some 90 Day Fiancé fans felt as if Murphey went a little overboard when it came to tracking down Lana. Some felt as though he was behaving like a stalker might.

One Redditor said that Murphey’s behavior made them uncomfortable. “Yeah, he’s gone from delusional to falling off the deep end. This is actually making me uncomfortable, and angry,” they wrote.

“He’s just so obsessive. It’s really creepy,” added another viewer.

“She chatted with him on a PAID dating site, sent him devil emoji and made him go mmmm. It’s so freaking obvious if you don’t have any way to contact someone other than a website that you have to pay to use, she’s not your ‘girlfriend’ dude. He is so delusional. It’s very scary,” opined another Redditor.

Another opined, “Wife and I agree this guy is the creepiest we’ve ever seen in this show and everything he did should be classified as stalker behavior.”
