Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa battled through many issues on ’90 Day Fiancé’

At this point, most 90 Day Fiancé fans know about Kalani and Asuelu’s relationship. The pair began dating years ago after meeting in Asuelu’s native Samoa and have since married and started a family.

Kalani and Asuelu have grown to become one of the most popular couples on the show, but their relationship has not been all smooth-sailing. The two have battled many obstacles throughout their marriage — from lifestyle differences to financial disputes.

On the fifth season of Happily Ever After? which aired in 2020, Kalani and Asuelu started butting heads over his family’s monetary demands. His mother and sister argued that as a Samoan man, Asuelu has a responsibility to support his parents. But Kalani wouldn’t allow it, causing friction between them.

Their relationship only grew more strained when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began. Kalani said in an episode that Asuelu had been going out and acting as if there wasn’t a health crisis going on, stoking fears that he would catch the virus and expose their family. She became so frustrated that she kicked Asuelu out, sending him to his mom’s home in Washington on a one-way ticket.

“We were already having a bunch of problems before quarantine. I just feel like that kind of made everything a whole lot worse, so we got into a big fight last night and I told him I think it would be best if he would just go to his mom’s. So now I booked a one-way ticket for him. I don’t know when he’s coming back because this is not working,” she explained to cameras.

Kalani Faagata noted on the reunion that Asuelu Pulaa had returned home, though

The pair noted on the reunion that aired on Sept. 27 that Asuelu had moved back home. He explained that he chose to go back because he had missed his wife and children, Oliver and Kennedy. However, Kalani noted that they were still on shaky ground.

“Today, we are together and we’re living together, but we aren’t anywhere near where we used to be when we were first together,” she said. “We’re just in a really rocky place right now.”

Kalani Faagata has a new update on her marriage to Asuelu Pulaa

One of the last updates came in early October when Asuelu shared a post on Instagram suggesting that he and Kalani had another falling out. He posted a picture on his account showing him playing with his kids along with a caption that made it seem like he was once again no longer living at home. However, it seems like they have since reunited.

Kalani posted an Instagram photo on Oct. 16 with Asuelu and their children where they were in all smiles. She did not say much in the caption, but she noted that they were “trying.”
