90 Day Fiancé fans have been on the fence when it comes to Stephanie Matto and Erika Owens. Some fans of the show have been questioning whether or not Matto is who she claims to be when it comes to her sexuality. Matto has been facing accusations that she’s been playing up her interest in women for the show, and that her interactions with Owens don’t seem particularly romantic, but more like a friendship. Matto has since taken to Instagram to dish on her sexuality and clear the air with 90 Day Fiancé fans.

Some ‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans thought Stephanie Matto was frauding

At first, some 90 Day Fiancé fans weren’t so sure about Stephanie Matto. The reality star hosts a YouTube page with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. She frequently posts videos with titles in clickbait style, as well as shots of her making shocked faces.

One of Matto’s videos in particular had some fans wondering if her infatuation with Erika Owens truly was her first time dating a woman. Matto had previously uploaded a video entitled, “I Was in Love With a Girl | My First Bisexual Experience.” The video was not about Erika Owens, and had some fans questioning the reality of her storyline, including her claims that her family doesn’t know she’s bisexual.

Matto took to Instagram to fire back at fans who were accusing her of lying. She wrote, on her story, “My final time addressing this. First of all: this is NOT a coming out video. Nowhere in this video did I come out. This was a video about an experience I had with a girl I thought I was in love with.”

She continued, “My mom never watched my channel 3 years ago when I made this. I’ve made videos about anal sex, dildos, and all sorts of things she has NO interest in. This video was also buried in over 3 years worth of videos (about 800 in total). I recently made it my main page video because obviously the cat is out of the bag now and I figured I would share it now for all the naysayers who would try to say, ‘she’s just bi for the show.’”

Some fans disliked Stepanie Matto and Erika Owens’ first kiss

Additionally, some 90 Day Fiancé fans seemed to take umbrage with how Stephanie Matto and Erika Owens first kiss was portrayed. Some felt as if the shot played up the sexuality of the kiss compared to other couples, and that it was meant for the male gaze.

One Redditor said of the moment, “Normally, first kisses on the show are cringy or romantic with triumphant happy music in the background. But the Erika/Stephanie first kiss had almost cheesy porn music in the background and was a zoomed in shot that went on for a while… it seems like the editors are playing into the male gaze rather than actually trying to depict a queer couple like any other couple. Maybe the zooming was because they were in the bathroom which leaves less room to film, but I don’t buy that production couldn’t have told them to kiss elsewhere and that still doesn’t explain the music.”

Another added, “Not only did I get the feeling the cameras were presenting it that way, I felt Stephanie was very aware of her male audience.”

“I literally said out loud, ‘What’s up with this lesbian porn scene?’ I knew exactly who the producers were trying to appeal to with that scene,” commented another user.

Stephanie Matto dishes on her sexuality

Stephanie Matto recently took to Instagram to answer questions from fans of 90 Day Fiancé. One user asked her, “On the bisexual spectrum, which gender do you feel drawn to and a connection with?”

Matto answered the user, “70% women 30% men. I know I have only had serious relationships with men in the past but I do feel more comfortable with women and I do find myself more attracted to them. However, hypothetically speaking, I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’ll NEVER date men again.”

Another Instagrammer asked Matto, “How do u deal with close minded people that easily judge u based only from the show [sic]?”

Matto replied, “I share things about me that are raw and real, but people turn a blind eye I guess. When someone wants to see the bad in you and view you as the bad guy, they will find a way to fulfill that agenda even if it means ignoring every truth that would invalidate their dislike for you. I take comfort in knowing those closest to me love, understand, and appreciate me. The rest don’t matter (at least I like to say).”
