‘90 Day Fiancé’: Tania Maduro Seems to Hint That Producers Engage in ‘Psychological Warfare’

Tania Maduro hasn't earned herself many fans in her relationship with Syngin Colchester on TLC's '90 Day Fiance' Season 7. But the 29-year-old recently took to Instagram to share positive footage of herself with Syngin to combat all the online criticism.

As soon as TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé Season 7 premiered, 29-year-old Tania Maduro of Connecticut became known among fans as one of this season’s “villains.” While some 90 Day Fiancé viewers defended her, others didn’t like the way the bartender and aspiring natural healer treated her free-spirited South African fiance, Syngin Colchester.

Fans began to speak out against Tania and Syngin’s relationship on social media as the season wore on. Many viewers were particularly scandalized by Tania’s 30-day trip to Costa Rica to complete a course in herbal medicine, as she seemed to do some flirting and partying while Syngin was back in the U.S. waiting for her.

Tania hasn’t taken the criticism without comment, though. The 90 Day Fiancé star recently took to her Instagram stories to show behind-the-scenes footage that didn’t make it to air, some of which painted her relationship with Syngin in a more positive light.

‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans were recently shocked when Tania said Syngin wasn’t her soulmate

In addition to her lengthy trip to Costa Rica during her fiance’s first 90 days in the U.S., 90 Day Fiancé fans had a few other bones to pick with Tania as well. She wasn’t exactly upfront about the disheveled state of her mother’s backyard she-shed, where she and Syngin lived after his arrival.

What’s more, on the Jan. 19 episode, “Blindsided,” Tania told Syngin she didn’t think he was her soulmate. “I think my first love was my soulmate,” she admitted, leaving him heartbroken. Many viewers thought Tania was trying to hurt her fiance or manipulate him with the painful news.

Tania showed behind-the-scenes footage of happier times with her fiance

Tania has been open throughout the airing of 90 Day Fiancé Season 7 that she feels she’s been portrayed unfairly. On Jan. 21, she shared some happy memories of filming with Syngin that didn’t quite match up with what viewers have seen on their small screen.

In a series of Instagram stories, Tania showed affectionate photos of herself with Syngin after he picked her up from the airport in New York City. The couple went to the Museum of Sex, she said, but added, “It didn’t make it to screen so guess we didn’t talk enough.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star posted photos and videos of Syngin hailing a cab in New York City and the pair joking around inside the museum, showing a happier side of their relationship we don’t often get to see on camera.

Under a photo of the couple holding hands and getting “married” at a vending machine wedding chapel, Tania joked, “Gotcha! We were married the whole time.”

“Juuuuust kidding,” she followed up. “It was a cute lil machine that pops out a ring. You see me wearing it at the lunch later that day.”

The ‘90 Day Fiancé’ star’s Instagram post hinted at frustration with TLC producers

In an accompanying Instagram post with the comments turned off, Tania hinted that she was more than a little unhappy with her portrayal on 90 Day Fiancé so far. In a series of hashtags next to a behind-the-scenes photo of herself kissing Syngin passionately with the TLC camera crew in tow, the 29-year-old indicated that editing was partly to blame for fans’ perceptions of her.

“Today: Posting on my story some behind the scenes, and things not seen!” she wrote in the caption. The hashtags included #theydontshoweverything, #howtobecomeaproducer, #unreel, and #lustatfirstsight.

Even more tellingly, Tania seemed to take a major jab at TLC with the hashtags #producersmusthavetakenpsychologicalwarfareclasses and #theygoodatwhattheydo. She added that this was a “temporary post,” suggesting she would be taking it down after she made her point.
