Chantel’s family comes together with Pedro’s family for a meal

On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Chantel and Pedro decide to have a second wedding in the Dominican Republic for Pedro’s family. However, there’s already some growing animosity between the families. Chantel’s family is a little standoffish when Pedro’s mother, Lidia, and his sister, Nicole, offer them chicken feet for a meal. Chantel’s family feels it’s disrespectful, and things don’t go as planned.

“In the religion of Voodoo, they use a lot of chicken feet, so naturally I don’t want to be taken advantage of,” Karen, Chantel’s mother says about the situation. “I don’t trust these people because Pedro’s mother felt that we are stupid Americans. Stupid enough to sit there and eat a chicken foot.”

Chantel’s family doesn’t get out of the van when they go to see Pedro’s grandmother

Before the wedding, Chantel and Pedro go off with their families to visit Pedro’s grandmother and where Pedro grew up on a farm deep in the countryside. The journey takes several hours for the families to arrive at their destination, and Chantel’s family has a unique reaction when they get there.

They refuse to get out of the car even though Pedro’s family made them dinner. Chantel ends up going back to the hotel with her family and doesn’t stay with Pedro on the farm that night. Pedro’s family feels disrespected that Chantel and her family reacted the way they did.

Chantel faces off with Pedro’s mother and sister

At the hotel where Chantel and Pedro will shortly get married for the second time, Pedro’s mother and sister come to talk with Chantel. Things don’t go well since both families feel disrespected toward each other at this point.

Chantel apologizes to them for her family not getting out of the van the other night. Chantel ends up asking about Pedro sending them money every month along with gifts when she can’t even get one date night a month with Pedro.

Nicole, Pedro’s sister, gets defensive and things spiral out of control. Chantel eventually gets up to walk away, but not before calling Nicole some surprising names.

Pedro comes over for dinner with his sister at Chantel’s family’s house and things get physical

Chantel and Pedro get married for the second time in the Dominican Republic, although things are still very rocky between them and each other’s families. Pedro invites his sister to visit him in Atlanta, and there’s another incident. Nicole stays with Chantel and Pedro during her stay, causing a lot of tension between the couple.

Chantel, Pedro, and Nicole come over to Chantel’s family’s house for dinner and things explode. There’s an impressive spread of food, but that isn’t enough to calm the awkward tension. There is already a lot of bad blood, and it just gets worse when Pedro and Nicole arrive.

When an argument gets out of hand, Pedro stands up and so does River, Chantel’s brother. River hits the light hanging from the ceiling, and Pedro immediately walks over to River and an altercation breaks out. Everyone gets involved trying to break it up, but the damage between the families is done.

Chantel’s parents speak with Pedro’s family again

On The Family Chantel, Pedro, Chantel, and their families get together again in the Dominican Republic. Pedro decides to go back to see his grandmother who is sick. Chantel comes along, and so does her family. The couple gets some of the family together, including Chantel’s parents and Pedro’s mother and sister.

Karen, Chantel’s mother, apologizes for tearing off Nicole’s weave in the previous altercation. Lidia, Pedro’s mother, says Chantel’s family is a bad example of an American family. Lidia is upset about what happened to her children at the dinner in America. When things get out of hand, the families walk off separately before things can get any worse.
