’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’: Ariela’s Mom Questions If She’s Making the Right Decision By Staying in Ethiopia
Ariela Weinberg was forced to say goodbye to her mom, Janice, once again on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. But just before Janice flew back to the United States, she asked Ariela if her decision to stay in Ethiopia with Biniyam Shibre was the right one.

As 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans saw early on in the season, Ariela moved to Ethiopia to be with Biniyam for the birth of their son, Aviel. The Princeton, New Jersey native and her mom traveled to the African country together. And when they landed there, Janice got to meet Biniyam for the very first time.
While in Addis Ababa, Janice wanted to make sure Ariela had a clean and safe place to stay. And while she noted that Biniyam was “good” to her daughter, she wasn’t entirely sure Ariela would be happy.
“If you have any second thoughts about having the baby here, don’t be embarrassed,” she said before heading back to the States. “Just call me, and I’ll send you a ticket. You might start having, like, cold feet, and it’s OK.”
Ariela’s father was hesitant about his grandson growing up in Ethiopia
After Ariela gave birth to Aviel, both her parents flew in to see the baby. Upon seeing her new apartment, Janice was concerned it might be too small. She noted that with all the baby gear she brought for Aviel, there would be barely enough space left to walk.
And when Ariela took her dad, Dr. Fred Weinberg, to a local market, he was surprised to see how people there lived. When talking to producers, he shared his concern for Aviel growing up there.
“I didn’t expect Ethiopia to be as underdeveloped,” Fred admitted. “I worry about day-to-day life. When you look at the road, where does my grandson play? Does he play in the street?”
Janice questions Ariela’s choice to live in Ethiopia on ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’
On a recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Janice said goodbye to Ariela once again. But this time, she questioned whether or not her daughter was making the right decision.
She pointed out the communication issues Ariela and Biniyam were having. And she noted how much pressure his family put her under to baptize their son.
“I’m not sure Ariela even realizes how much she’s sacrificing to be here in Ethiopia,” Janice told producers. “I really feel there’s a lot of family pressure from his side, and she has no support for her own opinions.”
As they hugged and said goodbye outside the airport, Janice let Ariela know that she would always be there to support her. And she suggested she just wanted to make sure Ariela was happy.
“Am I making the right decision about where to live?” Ariela said to the cameras. “I don’t know, but I definitely want Avi to be with his father. That’s no question. Things are not going to be easy, but when you love someone, you try to work through the hard stuff. This is the decision I have made, and I’m sticking to it.”
