On ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,’ Yazan and Brittany have clashed over their cultures

As seen throughout the current season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Yazan and Brittany come from vastly different cultures. Brittany was born and raised in America, where women are allowed to dress as they please. But Yazan is from Jordan, a predominantly Muslim country where women are pressured to dress and act more modestly.

So when Brittany first arrived in Jordan, Yazan asked her to meet his parents wearing a hijab. He’s been pressuring Brittany to take down her revealing social media photos. And he’s also tried to convince her to convert to Islam and adopt his culture.

But Brittany repeatedly pushed back. She claimed that Yazan knew who she was when they started dating and shouldn’t expect her to change herself.

Yazan warned Brittany about Jordanian culture the last time she went to Jordan

In an earlier episode, the 90 Day Fiancé couple argued when Brittany arrived in Jordan with a bottle of alcohol in her bag. Yazan claimed that he previously warned Brittany not to drink while in Jordan. And in a note, producers revealed Yazan was also upset because he had seen Brittany hug one of the crew members.

“F**k Brittany, f**k you,” he said. “I’m an idiot … look at her fooling me.”

Brittany was shocked at Yazan’s reaction, and she told producers that she wasn’t “proud of his behavior.” The two later talked it out and made up.

Brittany gets heckled in a Jordanian market on ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’

Earlier this season 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, fans saw Brittany get criticized by Yazan’s family because of her revealing social media photos. They accused her of being a “prostitute” and even suggested she did “porn.” Their reaction to her bikini-clad images is a clear indication of how conservative their culture is.

So, in the most recent episode, when Brittany walked a local Jordanian market with a revealing top, it was no surprise that people around her reacted. As she walked past each shop, owners and customers stared and made comments.

At one point, a passerby called her “haram,” which means “unlawful” or a “sin” in Arabic. But Brittany retorted, telling the man that he was “haram.” Brittany’s friend, Angela, covered up in a full coat, quickly noticed why her friend was garnering so much negative attention.

“Brittany and I are getting a lot of looks as we walk through the market,” Angela told producers. “It’s just like a little uncomfortable. The other women are covered while Brittany has her boobs out. So, I think that’s causing, like, a lot of looks.”

After leaving the market, Brittany admitted she finally realized why Yazan was so insistent she adhere to his country’s cultural standards in public. “I can definitely see now why Yazan wants me to cover up,” she confessed. “People are just staring at me, so I’m not comfortable right now.”

Brittany will be in Jordan for a while longer. So fans will get to see more of her trip with Angela as the season continues.
