Sumit’s parents have influenced him in the past

As seen on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Sumit tends to buckle when pressured by his parents. He comes from a traditional Indian household. And when his mom and dad refused to accept Jenny, he couldn’t get himself to disobey them.

Jenny knows Sumit won’t marry her without his parents’ blessing. And in an earlier episode this season, she voiced her concern.

“I’m still worried,” Jenny said in a confessional. “Because a lot rides on Sumit’s parents approving of our marriage. If they block it, I’ll have to leave India, and that could ruin our relationship.”

So, when confronting Sumit about moving forward without his parents’ consent, Jenny needed reassurance. “Are you sure I’m who you want to be with?” Jenny asked him. “A 100 percent sure?”

Sumit assured Jenny that he was wholly committed to marrying her. But knowing how much influence his parents have over him, Jenny’s been understandably concerned every step of the way.

On ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,’ Sumit continues to try and convince his parents

Recently on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Sumit and Jenny spoke to a marriage lawyer and learned that they could get married quickly at any time. Jenny hinted that they could have the wedding on the day of their planned ring ceremony, but Sumit went back to the idea of talking to his mom and dad.

“But you know that before I get married, I want to talk with my parents first,” he told Jenny.

“No,” she replied. “If you go talk to your parents first, they’re going to stop you, and you’re not going to marry me. When your parents are actually in front of you, you might change your mind.”

“Sumit’s parents will never give him their blessing to get married to me,” Jenny then said in a confessional. “It’s not going to happen. And I don’t understand why Sumit’s trying to stall the marriage.”

Jenny is worried Sumit will let her down again

On the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Sumit and Jenny get ready to talk to his mom and dad once again. He hopes they’ll see how happy he is and finally agree to his marriage.

But when he suggests postponing the ring ceremony, Jenny recalls he did this a year earlier because of family issues. “Well, that’s something that I’ve heard before,” she says sarcastically.

“Now I do feel like I’m letting Jenny down once again,” Sumit admits. But he notes that if his parents learn about this engagement after the fact, they’ll create more problems. He is still hanging on to hope that they’ll come around.

“I’m feeling a lot of anxiety and fear about their visit,” Jenny tells producers. “It’s going to be really hard. And I just hope this turns out for the best. I hope nobody gets hurt.”

“And I just hope we can still be together and fulfill our dreams,” she adds. “Obviously, the parents are never going to go away so let’s just deal with the parents.”

Fans will get to see how the interaction with Sumit’s parents ended in the upcoming episode. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs Sundays on TLC.
