’90 Day Fiancé’: Why Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores Broke Up

Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores were one of the less dramatic couples of Season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé. Things left off with them getting married but not long after the finale it came out the two has called it quits. So what is the reason behind the breakup? Here is everything you need to know about why Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores broke up.

Jonathan Rivera said he hasn’t talked to Fernanda Flores since Dec. 22

The married couple is now estranged according to Rivera. He told In Touch Weekly, “I haven’t spoken to Fernanda since December 22.” The reality star continued, “I have a lot going on and so in the midst of all the craziness, I try to focus on what’s important.”

Fans noticed pretty quickly that something might not be quite right between the married couple. Rivera shared a picture celebrating the new year with family members on Instagram. Flores was noticeably absent from the picture and fans questioned him.

“The truth will come out soon. I’ve always given 1000%,” he wrote to one fan. When another told him not to give up on his marriage so quickly he replied, “If you think 2.5 years is giving up quick then yes. You don’t know the details.”

He said ‘people change’ when talking about their break up

It seems like the reason for the break up is very complicated. Rivera made sure to not throw blame on either one of them. “My feelings for Fernanda were real and Fernanda’s feelings for me were real. Fernanda’s not a gold digger. Fernanda didn’t come here for a green card,” he explained. “What happened was things change, things change and people change and I can’t help that.”

Rivera did go on to say that Flores’ age does lend her to change because she is figuring things out. “I don’t know how to help someone from changing who they are or who they were,” he said. “Also, she’s young, 20 years old. You have a tendency to continue to grow, you want different things as time goes on and I can’t blame her for that.”

Rivera previously claimed Flores left him to pursue her modeling career

Before his interview, Rivera did somewhat talk about where his estranged wife is and why they aren’t together. “No, she’s in Houston. She wanted to pursue a modeling career in Chicago. Decided to leave and realized she couldn’t do it on her own,” he wrote according to In Touch Weekly. “She said MANY [sic] things you can’t take back that I won’t mention, you’ll have to trust me when I tell you.”

Fernanda Flores has yet to make an official statement about their breakup. Her Instagram account is set private. Her last tweet was on Dec. 24 and she wrote, “This dates are to be with people who really loves you and care about you.” Fans will have to wait to hear her side of the story.
