‘A Million Little Things’ recap: Gary and Maggie’s relationship timeline

Gary and Maggie met in A Million Little Things Season 1 at a cancer support group. Gary pushed Maggie to go through further treatment for her cancer. He supported her through chemotherapy, and their relationship grew stronger. However, when Maggie’s cancer went into remission, their relationship became strained. Gary wanted to marry Maggie, but she wasn’t ready. They decided to split so that Maggie could find out who she was without her cancer to define her life.

Both Gary and Maggie struggled with their breakup. In season 2, Gary sent a bottle of wine to Maggie anonymously when her date stood her up. Before Maggie left for Oxford, she decided to profess her love to Gary in the A Million Little Things Season 2 finale. However, it was too late. In season 3, Maggie began sleeping with her Oxford roommate, Jamie (Chris Geere) and unexpectedly got pregnant. When Gary went to support her through her abortion, he saw that Jamie was already there. The timing hasn’t ever been suitable for Gary and Maggie.

Gary and Darcy met on a laser tag playdate when Eddie (David Giuntoli) and Catherine (Grace Park) couldn’t take Theo (Tristan Byon). At first, Gary hit on the attendant at the register; however, as the playdate progressed, he realized he was into Darcy. The couple began dating at the very end of A Million Little Things Season 2.

Throughout season 3, their relationship grew stronger as they both shared past traumatic experiences with each other. Darcy worked through her PTSD with Gary’s support. Meanwhile, Gary took care of Delilah Dixon’s (Stephanie Szostak) children while she was stuck in France. Darcy’s son, Liam, even hit it off with Gary. Viewers love Gary and Darcy’s easy-going relationship.

Do Gary and Darcy break up in the ‘A Million Little Things’ Season 3 finale?

With Jamie out of the picture and Maggie living at the Dixon house moving forward, viewers wonder what might happen next. The synopsis for A Million Little Things Season 3 Episode 16 teases trouble for Gary and Darcy.

“As Gary once again acts as the glue that keeps this friend group together, he discovers that it is taking a toll on his relationship with Darcy,” the YouTube trailer description reads.

Gary took over the Dixon household while Delilah was gone, and now he’s letting Eddie move in with him. He fixes every situation in his friend group. However, instead of taking care of his relationship with Darcy, he takes care of everyone else. Then the A Million Little Things Season 3 finale description worries viewers even more.

“Maggie forces Gary to take a hard look at himself and his relationships,” reads the ABC press release.

Could Darcy and Gary break up? Then Maggie consoles Gary and helps him realize he should focus on himself first before helping everyone else. Could Maggie and Gary finally have their timing right? Viewers will find out when the A Million Little Things Season 3 finale airs on ABC on June 9, 2021.
