We know Tom Brady is a superstar quarterback married to a supermodel. The signal caller and Gisele Bündchen were set up by a mutual friend in 2006 and three years later, walked down the aisle. But you probably weren’t aware of the violent incident that took place during their wedding ceremony in Costa Rica.

Here’s what occurred as the couple said their vows.

Brady and Bündchen had two weddings

Brady and Bündchen tied the knot on Feb. 26, 2009, during a small Catholic ceremony in California. And instead of having a lavish reception afterward, they opted to celebrate at home with just their parents.

“We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips,” Brady told GQ. “We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I’m all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there.”

However, they decided to have another ceremony in Costa Rica and did so in April of that same year.

The athlete and model still intended on keeping things low key, but the paparazzi had other plans and tried to get pictures.

Bodyguards for Brady and Bündchen reportedly approached the photographers to retrieve their cameras. That led to an altercation and law enforcement officials said that the bodyguards fired gunshots at the photogs when they tried to leave.

What happened apparently didn’t affect the ceremony though because Bündchen claimed that she and Brady never heard the gunfire.

As for the two bodyguards Miguel Solis and Alexander Rivas, UPI noted that they were found guilty of attempted murder in 2013. They were sentenced to five years in prison and were ordered to pay $10,000 each in restitution to the photographers.

The couple didn’t reveal their wedding attire until their 9th anniversary

The pair waited several years to share with their social media followers what they actually wore when they said: “I do.”

In the past, Bündchen posted a photo of a sparkly dress she put on for their evening reception. But to mark their ninth anniversary she finally revealed a pic of the bridal gown she wore during the ceremony.

The model then used their 10th anniversary to roll out more rare pictures from their special day. She also posted a sweet message to her husband.

“There is nothing that I love more in this world than you and our family,” she wrote via Instagram. “Thank you for being on this journey with me and for doing the work that it takes to make it so special. May we continue growing together, walking side by side supporting and loving one another for many many years to come.”

Brady has shared photos from their wedding with loving messages for his bride as well.
