Abby Lee Miller was released from prison and transferred to a halfway house after serving 366 days in prison for bankruptcy fraud. Since being released, she has talked about her plans to return to television and even take Dance Moms to Broadway.

She also made some big lifestyle changes, from getting gastric bypass surgery before going to prison to reportedly losing 100 pounds by the time she was released. The reality star made headlines for looking different, but her health surprisingly took a turn.

Initially, there were reports that she got emergency surgery because of an infection. However, she has since been preliminarily diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. So what does that mean for her future? Here are seven things to know about her diagnosis and surgery.

Miller reportedly felt paralyzed from the neck down. She also had “excruciating neck pain” and weakness in her arm, according to People.

“Over the next two days, her condition started deteriorating,” Dr. Hooman M. Melamed, who treated Miller explained to People. “Not just her pain, but her weakness started getting worse. In the span of 24 hours, which was something that I have not seen, her condition rapidly deteriorated. She was completely paralyzed from the neck down.”

It was first believed that she had an infection, but Miller has since been diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The reality star then had to go into surgery.
