Could Adam Driver Finally Win an Oscar for His Role in ‘Marriage Story’?

Recently, Adam Driver portrayed Charlie in the Netflix original film, Marriage Story. Could the actor earn an Oscar for his performance in this movie? Adam Driver is nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Charlie in ‘Marriage Story’
Alongside co-star Scarlett Johansson’s character, Adam Driver’s character tells the story of one couple as they go through a divorce in the Netflix original movie, Marriage Story. This film enjoyed a cinematic premiere earlier in 2019, before heading to the streaming platform. Already, the actor earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.
“Usually there’s like one scene in a movie or maybe two that you’re dreading. With this one, every scene felt like it’s all too early in the schedule,” Adam Driver said of the film, according to Cinema Blend.
“It’s too early… and then maybe we can put it to next week, but then next week’s was worse,” he continued. “Again, I think that’s a testament to good writing. Every scene felt [like] the stakes were incredibly high. They all felt urgent. They all felt necessary. There wasn’t a part that you could take out where the movie would survive without.”
When are the Oscar nominations announced? When does the award ceremony take place?
According to Cinema Blend, the nominations for the 92nd annual Academy Awards will be announced on January 13th, 2020. The ceremony will then be televised on February 9th, 2020, only days after the Grammy Awards.
Until then, fans can watch Adam Driver in other movies, including Disney’s 2019 release, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Although this actor starred as a lead role for films like The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, this is the last movie in the sequel trilogy. Adam Driver also stars in the thriller, The Report, previously released on Nov. 15, 2019.

Additionally, he earned Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for portraying the character “Flip” in BlacKkKlansman. In 2013, 2014, and 2015, he earned Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for the HBO series, Girls.
