After a six-year hiatus, Adele is back with a new album that her fans cannot stop gushing about. The singer’s fourth studio album titled 30 dropped on Nov. 19, 2021 and has been ruling the Billboard charts, quickly becoming the biggest-selling album of the year. The British superstar has said that 30 was written during the “most turbulent” time in her life and is deeply personal. In fact, she recently revealed that one song is so emotional that it will be difficult to sing live because she “can’t really get through it without crying.”

Read on to find out which one that is, plus which song title was supposed to only be a joke but ended up staying on 30.

What Adele’s single ‘Oh My God’ is about

Following the release of 30, Adele talked to Audacy’s The Julia Show about several of her new tracks and their titles.

She revealed the backstory behind the single “Oh My God” telling the host it’s “about the first time that I basically left my house after my anxiety and stuff like that started to sort of subside. I went out with some girlfriends and my girlfriends are like, ‘You’re single, 30, and ready to mingle.’ And I was like, ‘I ain’t ready to mingle at all. What the hell are you talking about?’ It was just about the prospect of sort of dating and stuff like that in bloody LA … I was terrified, I wasn’t ready to start dating anyway, but I was scared that if I did, that I would probably make some really bad decisions because I wasn’t ready.”

Adele added that the single life took some getting used to for her recalling: “I remember the first time [someone flirted]. I was like, ‘Do you mind? I’m married.’ And my friends were like, ‘But you’re not.’ And I was like, ’Oh s***. OK, oh my God.’”

The song on ’30’ that she can’t make it through without bursting into tears

The “Someone Like You” artist said that the hardest song to create on her new album was “To Be Loved.” She confessed that going forward the single will be a difficult one for her to sing live because she can’t get through it without crying.

“I’ve only ever sung it three times and it’s hard for me to get through it … without crying,” she admitted. “When I was writing and doing my vocals for it, I imagined my son being like, 30 or something, and being in the crowd and hearing my story in a different way than he does at this age, and it just turns me into a bloody wreck.”

When thinking about some of the other tracks on 30 that also get her emotional Adele says: “It’ll be interesting to see if I have to switch off for some of them to make sure that I don’t just like, burst into tears or get triggered by anything.”

“I Drink Wine” is also an emotional track, even though the title doesn’t give off that vibe. Adele stated that the title was a joke initially, but it stuck.

“The reason why I feel like it’s an integral part of the record is because it’s the beginning of me starting to really dig deep in myself and ask myself real questions and be able to focus my energy a little bit more,” she explained. “That song is basically like 50 questions I’m asking myself. It felt like it was the beginning of me coming out.”
