In an NBC early release video, America’s Got Talent magician Nicolas Ribs shocked season 17 AGT fans with his polished multi-media magical performance. However, his episode 5 audition wasn’t the first time Ribs wowed audiences and judges in a Got Talent reality TV series. ‘AGT’ Season 17: Nicolas Ribs made it to the semifinals in ‘France’s Got Talent’ in 2019

Magician Nicolas Ribs made it to the semifinal round in France’s Got Talent Season 14 in 2019 before auditioning for AGT Season 17. In his audition, he used only cards, which he made disappear and reappear throughout the performance.

However, in the French version of America’s Got TalentLa France Incroyable Talent 2019, ventriloquist Le Cas Pucine won the season. The runner-up was stand-up comedian Valentin Reinehr. So, Nicolas Ribs is back on another Got Talent stage to attempt to make it further than he did in France. His performance in AGT Season 17 already looks more stunning than it did in France.

It’s not uncommon for competitors from other countries to audition again in America’s Got Talent. For example, Pole dancer Kristy Sellars won Australia’s Got Talent before auditioning for AGT Season 17.

‘AGT’ Season 17: How did Nicolas Ribs become a magician?

In AGT Season 17 Episode 5, Emma translates for her father, Nicolas Ribs, who will perform a magic act. She explains that Ribs left his job as an audiologist at age 20 to become a magician. However, Nicolas Ribs’ website gives more information about his magical journey.

“I was 16 years old,” the site explains. “A sports accident, 6 months of immobilization, a card game offered as occupation. The spark was born; I want to be a magician.”

Ribs found magic as a teenager during rehabilitation, and then by the age of 20, he quit his full-time job as an audiologist.

”Since then, magic, pickpocketing and mentalism have been my daily life, my job, my passion,” he adds.

In the AGT Season 17 episode, magician Ribs sends a 2D ball across a screen and turns it into a real ball. He makes a card deck, an Eiffel Tower, and a Statue of Liberty appear. The unique form of magic he uses transforms items on a flat screen into real life.

Nicolas Ribs also appeared in the French TV show ‘Diversion’

In addition to appearing in La France Incroyable Talent 2019, Nicolas Ribs also appeared in the French TV show Diversion before auditioning for AGT Season 17. Diversion is a French magic show which began in 2017. According to Ribs’ Instagram account, he appeared in season 4 with host Arthur.

Spectators in the audience sometimes get a chance to participate in the magic tricks. The premise of the series is to modernize magic, which is an old art form to some.
