Amy Schumer is one of the few celebrities that you can count on to really tell it like it is. The 38-year-old has never held back when it comes to talking about her personal life. And lately, there’s been a lot to share.

Though Schumer admits she never imagined herself with a family of her own, things changed when she met chef Chris Fisher.

The two welcomed their first child last year and are currently undergoing IVF to have another. Recently, the new mother shared just how grateful she is that she can afford IVF when so many other women can’t.

Life can change in an instant. One minute you are happy to be single and living on your own, the next, all you can think about is having a house full of kids. That’s about what happened to the I Feel Pretty star.

Schumer was introduced to her husband through her personal assistant (Fisher is her assistant’s brother). The two hit it off immediately, and within months got engaged, and eventually, married. In May 2019, Schumer gave birth to the couple’s first child, Gene.

The pregnancy proved to be difficult for the actress as Schumer struggled with hyperemesis gravidarum throughout her entire pregnancy. But despite her struggles, the couple announced they would try for a second baby through IVF.

She recently shared how grateful she is to have the resources she does

On February 14, the comedian took to Instagram to share details of her IVF journey so far. She told fans doctors were able to retrieve 35 eggs, and in the end they had one viable egg. She went on to say how thankful she was for her fans and the stories they shared. But the real point of Schumer’s post was gratitude.

In her post, Schumer wrote, “I have so appreciated everyone sharing their Ivf stories with me. They made me feel empowered and supported.”

She acknowledged that this is a process that many women have to repeat over and over and how mentally grueling it all can be. But the actress is aware that this is a process that not everyone has the means to try. She writes, “I am so grateful for our son and that we have the resources to get help in this way.

Why is Amy Schumer sharing her journey?

While many fans may think they have a right to know about a celebrity’s private life simply because they put themselves out there, the truth is, they don’t owe us anything. Schumer and her husband have the right to privacy. So why does she invite fans to join her on a deeply personal journey?

The actress understands she has the resources to endure IVF, where many people don’t. IVF is an emotionally and financially draining experience. If you’re not prepared for the reality of the process, it can be a very difficult experience.

Why share her story? Because that is one resource she can provide to people struggling to conceive. When you’re going through the process, it’s helpful to know that other people have been just where you are, that the feelings you are having are normal.

The actress finished her post by writing, “I just wanted to share and send love and strength to all of the warrior women who go through this process.” She asked her fans to continue to share their stories.

So while Schumer is grateful for her financial means and her family, she is also grateful for her fans. It’s clear that the actress gets just as much support from her fans as they do from her. And in the end, that might be the most valuable resource of all.
