Sure, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) breaking the multiverse was important. However, the biggest debate to come from Spider-Man: No Way Home revolved around if Holland, Andrew Garfield, or Tobey Maguire had a fake butt. Ever since Holland teased that one Spider-Man suit had a fake arse, fans and actors have responded. However, Garfield narrowed down the hunt a bit more during a talk on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Tom Holland revealed one Spider-Man had a fake ass in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Before fans started hyping themselves up for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel fans rode the Spider-Man: No Way Home hype train for months after its release. And during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in February, Holland revealed a cheeky behind-the-scenes detail.

“I’ll give you a spoiler,” Holland told Seth Meyers. “And I’m not going to tell you who. But one of us has a fake arse in their suit.”

It sparked a massive online debate. Fans dissected pictures comparing the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. They came up with a theory that Maguire had the fake butt, but Garfield doubted that theory.

“I have no idea. It’s not me,” Garfield told Entertainment Tonight while interviewed on the red carpet of the 2022 SAG Awards. “So, I have no clue. I don’t know. I assumed everyone’s butts were their butts.”

When the interviewer noted that eliminating Garfield and Holland from the equation meant Maguire had the fake butt. However, Garfield added that “I don’t think it’s Tobey. I’ve seen Tobey’s butt. Tobey’s got back.”

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ actor thinks the MCU Spidey is ‘just stirring the pot’

The topic came back in Garfield’s April 28, 2022, appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Meyers introduced the tick, tick…BOOM! and The Eyes of Tammy Faye actor and discussed some of Andrew Garfield’s projects (although none included the fan-wanted Amazing Spider-Man 3).

However, he brought up Holland’s fake Spider-Man butt debate claims and wondered if Garfield’s answer had changed.

“He’s just stirring the pot – old Tom, he can’t help himself,” Garfield said. “You know, there’s an expression that we have in entertainment, which is, ‘We want to put bums on seats.’ You know, we want to get the audience sat and paying their tickets.”

According to Garfield, he still believes “everyone’s butts were their butts.” However, several actors lied about their appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, including Andrew Garfield and Charlie Cox. Could he be lying again?

Andrew Garfield denied the fake butt claim again, saying his Spider-butt was ‘totally unmodified’ in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

While Holland developed a reputation for spoiling films, Garfield thinks he has a method of hyping up Marvel movies.

“Tom is pretty great at creating subgenres of games for you all,” he added. “While you’re in the cinema going, ‘Well, that butt doesn’t look real. Tobey’s looks like it might be real. Could Andrew have that much ass? Maybe, potentially.’”

While Andrew Garfield lied to the entire internet, and even Emma Stone, about appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he stands by his spider-butt appearing au naturale.

“All I know is that I am totally unmodified, and that’s all I can share,” he said. Garfield added that Holland is “very good at marketing.”

Even though every Spider-Man actor had their struggles with their Spider-suit, the mystery of if Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, or Tobey Maguire had the fake butt might forever go unsolved.
