Nene Leakes is the OG of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The star is a huge presence on the show and when she’s not there, her absence is widely felt. That is exactly what happened when Leakes got off of her seat, closed her laptop, and left the virtual reunion. The Glee alum had been getting verbally attacked by most of her co-stars and ended up leaving them behind. Andy Cohen is now weighing in on the drama.

Why did Nene Leakes leave the reunion?

The ladies of Atlanta all met up virtually to wrap up season 12 of the series. Leakes was a major part of the controversial topics that were talked about during the meetup. It seems that Leakes got overwhelmed by all the verbal attacks that she ended up walking out of the reunion.

“The whole reunion is just Nene. What did you think about part one? Were they asking the questions to anyone besides Nene? It’s Nene, honey. Nene, Nene… to the point where I said to Andy, ‘Is there anybody else here, honey? Do you have any questions for anyone else here besides just Nene?’” she told ET.

Leakes didn’t find it fair that there were more issues to deal with but production only brought up drama she was involved in.

“Everybody is being paid a check, correct? So, NeNe shouldn’t have to carry everybody on her back. Let some of these other girls work for their checks, Andy,” Leakes added.

Kandi Burruss said in a separate interview that it was Yovanna Momplaisir the reason Leakes left. The latter didn’t want to face Momplaisir at the reunion according to the Grammy-award winner.

“The real reason why she got up and left was because Yovanna [Momplaisir] posted a post to let everybody know that she was about to come on the show,” Burruss told ET. “Like two minutes after Yovanna posted that, that is when Nene got up. We weren’t even talking to Nene anymore when she got up.”

Andy Cohen reacts to Nene Leakes leaving

Cohen was the moderator at the RHOA Season 12 reunion and looked annoyed when Leakes left. At one point during the third part of the reunion, Leakes called Porsha Williams on the phone to say something. However, Cohen didn’t let Leakes get on the speaker as she was set up for the video conference.

The Bravo host doesn’t understand why Leakes left as she had a positive storyline during the second half of the season.

“The weird thing is, she was coming into the reunion in such a great place,” Cohen told ET. “She had such a great second half of the season. She made amends to everybody. She has a great song out, so she came into the reunion in a really great place, I think, but didn’t enjoy it.”

Despite Leakes leaving the reunion, Cohen really enjoyed making it after being hesitant about doing it virtually at first.

“I was worried about it,” he added. “It was Bravo who said, ‘Look. Let’s try to make it iconic. Let’s try to — this is what’s happening now in the world,’ so I am so glad that — it was Bravo that was really pushing to make it happen, and it did. I think it was really funny. I think that mute button was really funny.”
