Tamra Judge confirmed she was leaving The Real Housewives of Orange County earlier this year. The veteran housewife had been with the show for 12 seasons and she was axed ahead of season 15. Judge has alluded to having been cut from the reality series due to her age. Andy Cohen is now reacting to Judge’s claims and clearing the misconception about being “ageist.”

Why does Tamra Judge think age played a part in her demise?

Judge has always been an outspoken housewife, that is the reason she was able to secure her spot on the show for so many years. Ahead of production for RHOC Season 15, she announced she was leaving the franchise. Since then, the fitness enthusiast has been making the podcast rounds and has made very revealing remarks.

When she appeared on Behind the Velvet Rope podcast, she let host David Yontef in on a secret. Judge revealed that she had younger friends audition for the reality series and got the inside scoop.

“One thing they said to each one of my friends who were younger … they want to have younger housewives,” Judge said, according to Reality Blurb. “I thought, well that’s interesting and then it shows. The ones they’ve hired have all been younger. So, I do think there’s some truth to that.”

Andy Cohen reacts to Tamra Judge’s claims

Recently, the Watch What Happens Live host made it to Brandi Glanville’s podcast. The former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star brought up the subject and reminded Cohen about Judge’s claims.

“I felt like [Vicki and Tamra] told their entire stories and they both said that [you are] an ageist. They said you were going against them because they got too old,” Glanville said on Unfiltered episode that dropped September 25.

However, the late-night presenter was not down for this comment and pointed to Ramona Singer from The Real Housewives of New York City, who is 63 years old.

“Ramona is older than Vicki [Gunvalson]. If you look at the women on our shows, there are a lot of women that are really thriving in their 50s and late 50s. Yeah, no. I don’t care for that [comment],” Cohen said.

“Vicki to this day makes me absolutely laugh,” he added. “We just felt that the show needed some new air. We needed to air it out and see where it went. These two women were so identifiable with it and will always be. I hope they will someday be back in some capacity.”

Andy Cohen echoes same sentiment

Back in February, when Judge and Gunvalson were recently axed from RHOC, Cohen had shared similar thoughts on his SiriusXM show. The host slammed reports that the reality stars were let go due to her age.

“If you look at the breadth of housewives on all of the shows, we represent all ages and specifically New York City, Ramona [Singer]’s 61 or something,” he told a caller on his Radio Andy program. “This doesn’t have to do with age.”

Cohen felt that RHOC needed to be revitalized as they had been telling similar stories for a quite a few years now.

“We just felt like, with Orange County, we were going in circles a little bit with the group,” he added. “Sometimes you have to take people out of the group to see the stories go in a different direction. I think if we had taken Shannon out of the group, then we could have a discussion about whether this had something to do with age.”
