Longtime Animal Crossing players have likely heard of the famous Froggy Chair at least once. The furniture piece was once a staple in the Nintendo franchise, but to many fans’ disappointment, Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrived in 2020 with no Froggy Chair in sight. Some players begged Nintendo for a year to bring the item back, and they finally got their wish in November. Froggy Chair is back and better than ever in New Horizons’ Update 2.0, along with a huge catalog of new items. Here’s everything to know about the amphibian furniture.

The chair dates back to the very first Animal Crossing in 2001. In those days, Froggy Chair was part of a two-piece set, which also included a Lily Pad Table. The set carried into a few other Animal Crossing installments — Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf — before Nintendo left it out of New Horizons. Then, in the Update 2.0 trailer, the developer quietly tucked Froggy Chair away in the corner of a room, waiting for fans to find the Easter egg.

At the end of the day, Froggy Chair is really just a piece of furniture, but it’s become a symbol of Animal Crossing. Many fans have turned it into a wholesome meme in the past few years. According to Know Your Meme, fans have done everything from making entire YouTube videos about the chair to getting it tattooed on their bodies. Naturally, there was plenty of excitement when Nintendo revealed Froggy Chair’s comeback.

Froggy Chair price in ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ and where to find it

Players can purchase Froggy Chair from a few different locations. Since Update 2.0’s release on Nov. 5, fans have spotted the item in Nook’s Cranny, Crazy Redd’s Treasure Trawler, Harv’s Market, and Nook Shopping. It has also appeared in Animal Crossing: New HorizonsHappy Home Paradise DLC, which means players can use the item while designing vacation homes. Froggy Chair’s companion, Lily Pad Table, was also added to the game.

In Nook’s Cranny, Froggy Chair costs 1,200 Bells. Meanwhile, Redd sells the item for 1,800 Bells. Players looking to sell the item will receive 300 bells from Timmy and Tommy. Lily Pad Table has the same price model.

Now, there’s no telling when Froggy Chair will pop up for a player, so fans should keep their eyes peeled and check all of these locations every day. Or they can always get the item from a friend if someone else finds it first.

Froggy Chair only came in one standard green color before, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons has six variants. Players can find green, pink, light blue, yellow, orange tiger print, and blue with black spots. Again, any one of these can appear in a shop at random. However, if players find one, they can customize the item by giving it to Reese and Cyrus at Harv’s Market.

The customization will cost 1,000 Bells, but it’ll be finished instantly. If a player wants all six variants right away, they can always purchase six of the same Froggy Chair from the Nook Shopping catalog and do some time traveling to collect them to give to Cyrus for customization all at once.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch, as well as the paid Happy Home Paradise DLC.
