Are ’90 Day Fiancé’ Couple Jihoon and Deavan Still Together?
Jihoon and Deavan are 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’s newest couple. Their first episode aired on June 24, and their story took off rapidly. A fast and surprising pregnancy results in travel across the globe and a very concerned pair of parents. Now fans are already wondering if this relationship was meant to last. Are Jihoon and Deavan still together now?
A surprise pregnancy
Deavan, 22, is a single mom from Salt Lake City, Utah. She ran into South Korean used-phone dealer Jihoon, 29, on an international dating application. The pair allegedly talked every day for three months before Jihoon finally decided to take the plunge and meet Deavan in Utah.
Jihoon said he wasn’t sure Deavan was real at first. “I was kind of suspicious before leaving,” said Jihoon. “I thought it might be a scam. I even suspected illegal organ trafficking. I thought they might take my organs.”
Allegedly, Deavan got pregnant from the first night the pair spent together. She said, “The day Jihoon was actually leaving for Korea, I did not feel good. Six positive tests later, I’m pregnant. I instantly assumed I’d never see Jihoon again.”
However, Jihoon reached out to Deavan again, and even suggested the pair get married.
Two conservative parents
Jihoon and Deavan kicked off their new relationship with a challenge — earning Jihoons’ parents’ blessing. “In Korean culture, it is super important for the parents to give their blessing. If I’m not up to Jihoon’s parents’ standards and they think I’m not good enough for their son, we can’t get married,” explained Deavan.
There are some issues, however. Jihoon admitted that his parents are embarrassed that he got an American woman pregnant. Jihoon’s parents are also not impressed by Deavan’s tattoos, which have always had a controversial place in South Korean culture. It seems clear that this woman is not who Jihoon’s parents wanted him to marry.
“My parents’ first impression to Deavan…not good,” confessed Jihoon on his premiere episode. Jihoon’s father went on to add, “I didn’t believe that she could get pregnant so fast.”
In the season preview, Deavan expressed concern that Jihoon was only marrying her to lessen his own embarrassment. “I’m just wondering if you want to marry me because of love and not cause of just being pregnant,” she told him.
Are they still together?
However, there is some good news for fans of the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way couple. Jihoon and Deavan are seemingly still together today, having welcomed their baby daughter into the world in May. According to Deavan, her boisterous daughter Drascilla is “such a big help” as well as “the best big sister.”
While Deavan might not have made the permanent move to South Korea just yet, she has informed fans that she’ll be aiming to move there once her baby is older than 7 weeks. Jihoon gave Deavan an official engagement ring as well, which she’s shown fans on Instagram.
It also seems as if Jihoon is quite the invested father. Four weeks ago he posted a picture of Drascilla to Instagram, and captioned it “i miss her” in English. Additionally, he uses the #daughter hashtag in the pictures of her that he uploads to Instagram. It seems as if he’s very accepting of being a father in a nontraditional family.
