Mahomes, of course, was enjoying himself after leading the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years. The quarterback threw for close to 300 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown and won the Super Bowl MVP.

Matthews and Mahomes met while attending high school in Whitehouse, Texas. Mahomes earned a scholarship for football and baseball at Texas Tech University, while Matthews played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Mahomes in 2017. At that time, Matthews had accepted a spot on a professional soccer team in Iceland. She finished out the year with the team before reuniting with Mahomes in Kansas City.
